You are so nice to your special kitty. 12 is only middle aged for a cat, so she can probably cope, especially since you are taking such good care of her and are trying to relieve her stress. Have you tried catnip to get her to come out from under the bed? Of course, I don't know if that would interfere with the drugs you are trying to give her, but it might entice her to come out! Good luckwith the kitty and the move. storm rider

I too stayed at a home in Germany and can not for the life of me remember if they had a freezer.

Actually, the guy that told me they didn't have freezers was in Sweden. And that was when discussing the fact that we couldn't find either ice or styrofoam coolers in Germany. I didn't actually ask anyone in Germany if they had freezers in their houses.

And, hey, I didn't check the guy's refrigerator myself, he coulda been pulling my leg. Dunno why he would, though. He seemed serious enough.

It was weird to me that bread and cheese could taste so different in another country.

Yeah, that's true -- and I was told that a large part of that is the food processing requirements we have here. Cheese, for example, is traditionally made using some naturally-occurring bacterias, but in the US step #1 is to pasteurize the ingredients to kill off all the naturally-occurring bacterias and then add a carefully-cultured bacteria. Makes eating safer, I guess, but it also tends to make things sorta bland by comparison.

If you wanna talk different, try Australia. I swear the air smells different there. All the eucalyptus trees, I guess.

Wow, is it me, or are you just stuck on stupid?

Takin' lots of abuse here, but I still haven't seen any other good reason for opting out of having your boxes rated. "I just don't condone it" is perfectly fine, but I'd like to hear why you just don't condone it.

Actually, I don't opt out, you can rate my boxes and I rate others. It does not negate the fact that what you wrote was just about the stupidest thing I have ever seen, and I have written some stupid things myself.

OK I started the outlander series and judging by the length of the books... and the series... it should keep me busy for a while - I did roll my eye a bit while I was reading the first book BUT obviously I liked it well enough because I started 'Dragonfly in Amber' right away after finishing it... Thanks for your great suggestions!

I am not sure about the rating system I certainly have found blue diamond rated boxes that I thought were just so-so and I have found boxes with no diamond that were outstanding... I rate sporatically and I think that effects how your rating is counted *Shrug* I mean to say I only rate a box if I was really wow-ed or it really sucked - otherwise I don't rate at all. But you can rate my boxes, I do somtimes look at the ranking of my own boxes, however some of my longer hike boxes have never been found, and I know they are boxes I would enjoy finding... (revolutionary redoubts comes to mind) My Blue Diamond boxes are all about location (which I think is as it should be) .... I won't change the way I am planting because of ratings, I think I plant what I like to seek (maybe most planters are like this?)... longer walks and hikes and/or great locations and clues with little "a-ha's" and of course cemeteries. I mostly subscribe to Miss Moon's feelings on the rating system (the only diffrence being I allow my boxes to be rated and somtimes I am compelled to hit 5-4 or 1) - it's there but I am not sure its good for much, after all there is no icon for a sucky rated box (the reverse blue diamond)

Another consideration is how heavy your paper is. If you're using regular paper, you'll want to have enough pages that people only need to stamp on the front side. If you're using thicker cardstock, then people can stamp on the front and back of each page, so you need half as many pages.

in the house I stayed at the freezer was in the basement. So yeah, it wasn't in the kitchen refrigerator, but they still had one.

I really miss the fresh strawberries and the really cheap Turkish food from Germany.

I think it depends on who you have as a reviewer. Another geocacher tried to post a similar cache in my area and was refused by the reviewer until he modified the offset to a bearing and distance that could be calculated using the gps receiver.

Sorry to hear your furry friend is having trouble with moving. Change is hard on some animals AND people. Do the best you can. Be patient. Be very loving. I'm sure you are but wanted to give you a little extra support. I had a cat that got depressed. But with him, it was after we had him fixed. We had just moved so he lost two things. His home that he was used to and now his...... Poor kitty. He did come out of it. So hang in there. Do what you would do for your child and I'm sure she will be just fine.

Sending "kitty support" and extra love,

If you're only missing the new two boxes, it's a pretty short walk. And it brings you near the 8-bit box if you're missing any of the stamps :)

One other thought...if you are planning to plant the stamp after it returns, you could always make a log book with lots of pages and a good size for a traditional plant so it can be re-used for planting.

She gets really weird with catnip, she is quite a mean drunk! She didn't come out all night so this morning I finally moved the bed and pulled her out. She is now sitting cuddled next to me. She finally got her first dose of medicine. It can take 5 days to a couple of weeks to work so we won't know if it helps for a while. Man I hope it does. One time when we moved she would find ways to crawl up IN the box springs of the hotel beds. I really hope she doesn't remember that trick. It's not the easiest place to get a cat out from.

My mom (ZTurtle) & I (along with my 11yr old- leaving the husband at home) will be in NH for the first week and some days of August. We plan on letterboxing along the way- though not sure on time and where we'll be just yet.

We'll be staying around Tilton, but going every which way (yes- we'll be hiding boxes also!)

Anyhow-- just wanted to put that out there. My mom is in Texas (but gets to visit much more than I do. I live in Montana and haven't been back to NH since my son was little. We're all super excited!!

I'm going to be in Ithaca over the weekend, and was wondering if there are any stores that sell the Color Box re-inkers? I know where to get them online, but didn't order them in time to have them for tomorrow so I thought I'd look there.

Also, any recommended, must-have boxes?

Thanks in advance!

I bowl on a summer league (it's 15 weeks) last night was week 8. We had a new person bowling with us who had bowled in the winter league I used to bowl in but on a different team.
Last night we along with the team we bowled were the last ones to leave; during the second game she started rushing everyone because she had to drive back to her house 45 minutes to an hour away. She is suppose to be joining our team (maybe). We finished at 10:15 pm one of our earlier nights (my exact words to her), She then says well we would have gotten finished earlier if you hadn't been distracting So and So by talking.

Excuse me but I don't come to bowl to be rushed through games just because someone has to drive home.. I come to have fun and some adult time. (occassionally I have to bring the kids with me--like last night which is something she hates too). Also I have bowled the previous weeks and it doesn't matter if we talk or not 10:15 or later is what time we get done.

I didn't know what to say to that because in order for me to have talked to so and so, so and so would have had to talk to me... but did she say anything to her no. I just walked away and put the baby in her car seat and got the other two and left, so and so saw me and I told her what was wrong.

I plan to tell the others if she comes back to bowl on the team they will need to replace me I don't need her type of drama and blaming me, I put up with that on the winter league for 3 yrs before finally having the team die, I won't put up with it again.

Hi Light Travelers, I am also thinking of a hybrid box for our area! I'll probably plant later this year, too many others things on the LB to do list. A lock-n-lock is totally acceptable, I've seen ammo cans, spice jars, older tupperware, disposable tupperware type, film canisters...all kinds of containers. Do you have a GPS unit? There is atleast one other boxer that geocaches besides me, in this neck of the woods. I'd be more than happy to help and I'm sure she would too.
I'll AQ mail you. :)

If anybody here uses a Cricut for making log books or ltc's, the Cricut Paper Dolls Cartridge is on sale at Micheals for $20. After buying it I was shocked to find out it cuts WAY more than what is shown on the back of the package. It would be really great for making lots of neat books and ltc's and cover's a lot of holidays like Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween and other stuff like Weddings and more. Here's a link that shows other stuff it cuts besides the dolls and their clothing.
