To answer, some what, your other question, Shrinky Dinks are not made out of paper, they are made out of special plastic that you put in the oven and it will shrink. Am certain there are others here that can tell you more. But will tell you that you can get that plastic at Hobby Lobby. There is other plastic that can be used as well, I just don't know what it is. Some sort of to go container was what I thought I read, but it had to be a specific number on the bottom because of ozone or what ever, toxic fumes emanating when heated, and such.....
Its great fun if you know how, ha ha, I didn't have the best of luck at it, myself, but was able to make up two, then quit. I know its not that hard, cause I had done one in my younger years with great success. Ole' dogs are harder to make a come back. ;-) Not worded quite right, but you get my drift.

I think I just demonstrated to myself what I value: when my smoke alarm went off tonight, what did I rescue and stash in my car? iPod, purse, cat, LTC binder, logbook. When I started letterboxing this past spring, I never thought I'd feel this strongly about it, but I'm glad for it. :-) Journeys taken, friends made, when I had a split second, this is what came to mind first. So thank you to everyone who has made it thus for me.

Apartment thankfully did NOT burn down. Boiler overheated, gas is now shut off, apartment pretty cold. But intact.

And I'm grateful. :-)

Maybe this will help put your fear into perspective. When you leave the house, do you turn off the refrigerator, furnace, water heater, or central air conditioning, which all draw more power than a slow cooker (or, even more frightening, have a gas flame)? Think, also, about all the places vampire electricity is flowing . . . low amounts running through the TV so it turns on faster and power needed to run clocks and timers on your dvd/video players, stereo equipment, microwave, answering machine, etc. One bit of dust in the wrong place and POW . . . a fire can start there as well.

Yes, there is always the risk of a fire from something . . . My friend lost her entire condo when a plugged in hair dryer in the "off" position shorted out. [OK, I'll admit it. I never leave a hair dryer plugged in when I am finished with it. Ever! I'm glad a slow cooker did not start my friend's fire. I wouldn't ever get a hot meal!] But, when you put a slow cooker up against some of these other big appliances that are running when you are not there . . . it is small potatoes. (Which also make a tasty meal!)

They had geocaching on SVU tonight. The opening scene was with these two guys find a suitcase and wanting to be the first finders. My guy said, "Hey, they are letterboxing." Then they came back and Benson and Stabler inquired why they were down there and they stated that they were geocachers and then explained that it was a high tech treasure hunt. I think I laughed the loudest I ever laughed.....

Awesome! I taped and haven't had a chance to watch the new ep yet, but I'm looking forward to it. The season opener was a little disappointing... (though the season opener of regular L&O was amazingly good!)

Welcome! It's fun and sorta similar to geocaching, but nobody is that into being the first finder (at least I don't think so...)

I was looking at someone's blog while over on Ravelry the other night. This person had made pockets from pockets of blue jeans, really cute too. Used the little pocket watch, or whatever those smaller pockets are to be used for, to make the stamp pockets out of. On the back side was where the logbook went and the stamp went in the tiny pocket on the front. Pretty neat, but you would have to have a sewing machine, I imagine, that would go over the thick seams to sew it up with. Not in my arsenal.

Hi, Nebraskans!

I am looking for someone willing to do a stamp swap with me... I have one I would love to have placed in Hitchcock Park in Omaha, and am in need of a Nebraska-themed one that I would be placing in the spring.

Anyone want to play? :)

ok, am I the only person who thinks it's funny that someone named "UL" gave lectures on electrical safety? or am I giving away my age when I recall that every "good" electrical appliance was certified by underwriter's laboratories, and had a sticker or tag on it that said, "UL"?

Some folks have their trailname on their profile but I'd like to choose who knows mine and who doesn't.

Is the problem that other people are using it on your wall? or that you don't want it on your profile?

If you want to show your trailname in your profile, you can create a note and set security on the note so only certain people can see it (ie people in an AQ group you've created, or everyone except person X, Y and Z.)

Would that help?

Look up top, see the list of things, Home, Toolbox, Boards, People...bingo! run your cursor over that for the drop down box, at the bottom it says directory, click that, then look at the alphabet, click on the L, then page through till you come to Little Monkey, click on her little envelope and write her there. Or go to the search pages and put her name in, ....some where. I use the other more often.....

We're talking 45 years ago but. . . when I was in grade school, I was mercilessly bullied. This one kid would hide in the bushes after school and when I walked by, run out and pull my dress over my head to show my underware, a totally humiliating experience in the 60s. I told my mother about it and the next day, she came down and hid in her own set of bushes and when the kid popped out and pulled my dress up, SHE ran over to him, grabbed his ears and twisted them hard then said to him, "now, go home and tell your mother what I did". Never had a problem after that.

And you know what, he went through high school with me and was voted "most likely to succeed" every year. He ended up living up to that award very nicely. Wonder what made him change?

With that said, I'm not sure this would work in this day and age. . .

The juicer is actually in the pipeline already, I could move it up a bit on the priority list but I do have a couple of other things that really need to get done first. I'm not even terribly sure I wanna do the blender at all, I'm less enthused about the artwork on that one than on the others.

just b/c they don't have their joystick doesn't mean it will keep them from being abusive somehow.

Thing is, though, is that I suspect it would. It's not that they no longer could be abusive; it's that they would lose the inclination. Kinda like a lobotomy for people who think with their you-know-whats.

I don't think they are thinking with their "you-know-whats". More often than not, it's not about sex. Whatever mental issues that drove them to rape in the first place will drive them to find another way to do what they feel they need to do. A lobotomy might help more.
