Devil's Fork

Folks NEED to get to Devil's Fork and get that box. I need to compare my guess (privately) as to who the real carver is with someone else who has seen a lot of carvings nationwide. I'm quite sure it is not a local (NC or SC) person that did that box-- it's just not the style of anyone around here, and I've not seen a logbook like that one anywhere else.

td has a weird mystery stamp, but that one could be a local person. It's harder to tell without a logbook.

Strange things happening in that area. Kind of makes you wonder with a name like Devil's Fork...

It's almost tougher and more rubbery, like I'm trying to carve with a dull gouge.

That is exactly the same thing that happened to me with my new supply of the same stuff.
I kept trying to sharpen my gouge and even changing them out several times.
It really reminded me of the orange stuff while carving.

But I have started on my second sheet and it is just the opposite...softer and very easy to carve with.

So I guess I wasn't just imagining it :)

So, when you contribute a cootie to a cootie jar, do you then also have to take one out of the cootie jar? Sort-of like a Hitchhiker Hostel?

It sounds as though the feelings you are having are coming from all the losses and even the good stresses, Rachel. We need to work through them and it isn't easy. I know that with everything now through that you are able to feel when before you were just getting to them.

Lightening a load in any way that you can is what I would recommend. Ball games..can someone car pool for you for a week or so? Missing a game when you go to them all might not be the answer, but maybe missing a practice will give you some breathing room.

Journaling sometimes helps me when I am in one of those, Rachel, but there are folks who journal every day too during good and bad.

Crock Pot...they make mealtimes much easier.

Remember especially, that our fears will cause turmoil in our lives. The LORD has not given you a spirit of fear....that one comes straight from the WORD. HE will help you through them, but you are doing the right thing here by asking US to pray for YOU.

Does your church have a pastoral counselor? That is where I would start.

YOU will be a super teacher. There are folks who have offered help with that cheering thing too. Don't be discouraged. Get proper rest, and delegate some things like rides to places so you can just breathe a bit. All will work out.

Heavenly Father, we as for YOUR peace right now for Rachel. She is feeling the stresses of loss, of the world and of burdens unknown. Comfort her Lord. She loves you and trusts YOU to be her guide. Amen.

Love you. Sandy

Now teaching..someone else will have to speak to.

And Artemis did not. What's wrong with this picture?

I do believe that one of you were sick with the flu. (not that you didn't try to make it regardless, if I remember correctly!)

Take the dogs out and get those boxes!

ah....but that's a story for Jones to tell! Since she and Peanut Brain are the ones who hosted :) I got to be a "guest" and hunt for night boxes, and relax with a cold one while turning down marshmallows and chatting with good friends :)

Thanks for the input. I like the idea of suggesting a color, except I'm happy with black for all my stamps, or whatever color you want just not metallics.

Angel Treads,
I'm in Fog Mart Inn nearly every day to pick up TutuOnTheRun from UMF. My feet are getting itchy! My Snowmen are melting. Time for you to come home!!! Let me know if you want me to get some cafeteria trays from ToTr, there may not be snow when we get up Titcomb, but there will be MUD!

LadySLPA, maybe some muddin down Titcomb is just the activity your visitor from out of state might enjoy!

Hmmm. Sounds like an impromptu MMM. Mini Mud Meet.

How to Lie with Statistics: Bread Kills!

I'm not sure if this is a myth or not.
But I remember a story about a student who came up with an interesting science fair project.

It was based on a dangerous substance. He was passing around a petition to have it banned.
This substance:

Over time, can dissolve almost every material known
Less than a teaspoon in your lungs can kill you
It causes thousands of deaths every year.
When heated, it can cause dangerous scalds
It's even dangerous when frozen

I can't remember the rest, but this horrible substance?

Heads up.

The Joannes I go to recently began carrying Marvvy Markers. The small set runs $19.99 however, with their 40% off coupon or with a 50% off sale, this makes those markers much more affordable folks! They don't carry Speedball products yet. But, you can take your coupon over to AC Moore and get your slabs of pink stuff there with a Joannes coupon. If you get the Michael's coupons in the Sunday papers, AC Moore takes those too.

VOILA! (with an accent mark which I don't know how to produce)

I am NOT picking on anyone who spells this incorrectly, I just had to get it off my chest.
Done, now. Thank you.

"...not my forte'."
Forte' with the accent means loud
Forte (pronounced as fort) is a strength.
But who am I to quibble. I say ha-RASS instead of HA-rass.
Not that I would harass you on the point.

AC Moore also carries that Marvvy markers too. They are cheaper at AC Moore. And the same is true if you use the coupon, it is a deal. We are buying markers as raffles for the Kites event in 3 weeks.

Ok, this one just bugs me.

This is what happens when a lifestyle and culture become a marketing ploy.
I'm sure you all have seen Amish made items. It's become a symbol for quality.
Everything from gazebos, furniture to matresses are advertised as Amish made.

But this is going a little too far.

I use PZ CUT white grade B for my carving. I've tried all the diff types and I prefer this by far. I just got a new batch and I would swear it's not the same. It's almost tougher and more rubbery, like I'm trying to carve with a dull gouge. Needless to say the carve I'm working on looks like crap and I won't be able to get any details in at all. Am i losing my mind or is it possible I have a bad batch? Has this happened to anyone before?

I think I may have gotten a piece of that batch too... I'm in the middle of a carving, and I have to exert a lot more force to get the gauge through the stuff. It also seems much rougher to the touch. I thought I'd finish the carve tonight and see how it stamps...

I had another sheet in the same order, and it has been fine.
