Quote gotta edit my own log book

Nah, if it was my scene I'd just start an exchange book, use the notecard idea like Boxdn suggested, or use clips to hold the pages that you don't revealed.

Good luck!

Thanks Mark,

It really does.

Amyrica is coming to Disney this week. She invited me and two other letterboxing friends to lunch. I was joking with Letterbug that this is almost like a mini gathering.

Then Amy wrote to me that we were also meeting up with the Gilroys (Kilroy). I suddenly realized it really was a mini meet.

I posted it to make it official, but Amy had already left. And I feel that this is really her gathering since she made the original invitation.

Thanks again for the info...I feel better now that Amy can add it to her count

I use my logbook in a scrapbook style with pictures, the clues and notes on the hike etc on some pages. When I go to a gathering where folks might see something that they should not...the answer to a mystey box for example (you wouldn´t believe the number of people who have a mystery box and they give away the mystery with the stamp image! So you can´t show the stamp image to your buddies!) Anyway, I place post-it notes over the pages that I want covered. This is an easy way to edit it just for someone´s viewing.

Ryan and I are missing our favorite shows (NCIS, Amazing Race and Lost) However, we do have the VCR set to tape ---with much agonizing over the Spring Forward problem, which I don´t think my VCR does automatically. So our fingers are crossed that we actually will have the shows taped when we return.
As it is, we have found some TV channels in Panama that carry the up to date American shows. In fact, we saw the NCIS episode that aired on Tuesday on Thursday night here. And they have been advertising Lost like crazy and it plays on Monday night. (We don´t know if our hotel on Monday will have TV...it might not)
But we are missing amazing race and it was great to hear a little water-cooler talk here about it! It doesn´t spoil it for us...it just whets our appetite for watching it when we return.

We have one logbook for all our finds/ exchanges. The logbooks we use hold 100 stamp images, we are nearing our third book. It has worked well. We keep our plants in its own book.

We did keep a separate log for the Southeast Gathering. Somedays I wish we included those in our regular logbook. We included the exchanges from the Treasure Haunt and Tea With Friends events in our regular logbook. Sometimes I wish I did a separate log for those events.

We keep a scrapbook of all the places we go boxing. It is for plants and finds. I am very far behind but the scrapbook includes the clues we used, the fun we had, descriptions of finding the box and pictures.

If you ever get the opportunity to SEE Boxdn's logbook system you should. It is a cool system. If we were not so far along on our binder system, I would change to that one. Our little black binders store well on the shelf. Humm, maybe when we hit 400 I can change systems.

Anyway, there are so many fun ways to keep up with your stamps. Dibble around a bit and you will find that one perfect system that works for you.

I can't recommend more spending a couple hundred dollars to replace your VCR with a TiVo Basic enabled digital video recorder. Most people don't realize you can have TiVo Basic for FREE. You don't have to pay TiVo $15 a month. You can set it just like a VCR, tape ABC every Wed. from 8pm to 9pm. It's great. No more figuring out what's on what tape anymore, or missing stuff.

Yes, but that was Ray and Dena for the first half. Ron and Kelly didn't get anything for the second half when they arrived first at the salt flats. I just thought it was kind of inconsistant with all the other times. ????

In past seasons, the first to the mat has gotten a prize of some kind about half the time. Maybe they're just giving them all out early this time.

I still think Rob's a jerk. I didn't see the second show. I turned it off at the first episode, not knowing there was another one on :( But the guy is just a jerk. I dont' care if it is a "race", he's a jerk.

On the Survivor note, I still like Tom, but I dont' think he'll make it to the end. He's too strong, to much of a threat to everyone else.

I have a big spiral logbook, about 8x10 inches. I enjoy getting a whole series on one page.
I stamp on side and write notes on the other.
Someone gave me the idea to flip it upside down and backwards and do the exchanges and events the other way. When they meet in the middle I start a new book.
I don't really know what the advantage of separating them is. It was way easier to go through them to log them on AtlasQuest though.
I have a couple of stamps I feel inappropriate for public view. I cover them with postits.

I use one logbook for finds. If I happen to stumble across an exchange on the trail, I record the exchange in the "Finds" logbook.

I use a completely separate and MUCH larger logbook for Events. In that logbook, I record all event stamps, all event only "finds", and all event "exchanges".

This works as an organization tool for me.

I've seen some boxers use one HUGE logbook that is separated into categories. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me because I need a trail find log that is easily portable (I use a 4x6 spiral bound index card deck, flipped backwards so that I stamp on the blank side rather than the ruled side.

My event logbook is an 8x11 spiral bound sketch pad with MUCH better quality paper in it.

There's my $0.02 !!

Hi Ryan,
I couldn't locate a listing for Scotland in the board listing. We are looking for boxes there and thought we would put a post up at the Scotland listing. I know Jelybean has one there and we found his clues, and LBNA has 3 more on their intl listing. Any help?

If I could pick the winner, it would be the NY Fireman. Is that Tom? He's definitely a threat, but I would like to see the strongest and best win for a change.

Pay tribute to your favorite celluloid bad guy/gal by participating in the FILM VILLIANS letterbox ring. Carve an image of your baddie or carve a scene from the film, then pass it along with a logbook to stun, disgust and horrify the rest of us. Include a brief description of your villian and why s/he holds a special place in your heart.

Obscure villians are most welcome.

Please sign up here on Atlasquest (the clue is only listed here) or by emailing me at limurme@yahoo.com. There is a participant limit of 12. Hand-carved stamps only.

I will set up a board on yahoo to discuss and track this ring.

The start date will be May 1 with a turn-around time of 5 days.

Feel free to email me with any questions!

Hi,

Since you are from NC, you should follow this board and also the Southeast board. Use this site to find boxes around you. Go to Letterboxes and do a search for Charlotte. You'll find a bunch that way. Also, go to www.letterboxing.org and click on NC for other clues. Finally, join yet another list...
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/letterbox-southeast/

and you'll find other clues as well.

For more info on this nutty hobby, click around on this site and read up on the history and techniques to letterboxing, such as how to use a compass, how to carve stamps, getting started with hiding boxes, the varieties of boxes out there, etc. Another good source for info is Silent Doug's site...
http://www.letterboxing.info

There are lots of great boxes in the SE, and some really good people too.

Welcome,
Mark

It doesn't matter to my which villians people carve or even if there are duplicates as I think it would be interesting to see how different people interpret the villians, so no, I don't think I will have a list beforehand (but if participants want to let me know who they are carving, that is fine with me!)

I want this ring to go quickly, which is why I have the 5 day turnaround. I hope you can participate, but understand the need for a 3 week vacation too!!!

Welcome to letterboxing! Here at the atlasquest website you can search for letterbox clues by city. At the LBNA website,
www.letterboxing.org you click on the book for clues and it leads you to a map of the USA. Then click on NC and then on the area in NC you are interested in...the clues are arranged by county. Have fun surfing these websites for letterboxing info! There is also going to be a Letterboxing gathering May 21st in Greenville, SC. This would be a great way to meet other letterboxers and see what this hobby is all about.

-Amanda from Seattle (and planter of a few letterboxes in NC) By the way, I can't make the gathering in May, I have to work weekends! bummer!

Welcome aboard Cfisher I saw your post on the SE group about visiting GA. Have fun out there, I know I did when I went for the Haunted Hike in October. If you get a chance set up an exchange time and place, the folks out there are very hospitible.
Tell everyone about AQ and get them to post their boxes.

It looks like you already got some speedy responses from some "veterans". All I can add is "welcome!" I have boxes in Charlotte and Matthews. I use the hobby as a free activity to run the energy out of 3 boys. You just can't beat a free "treasure hunting" hike in the great outdoors for a good night's sleep! My boys loved the Rock house ruins at Reedy Creek. It was fun to pick up some history on it and imagine those that lived there.

Ditto for part of the reason we letterbox, too! Nothing like taking our two kids on 6 mile hikes hunting for stamps in the woods to get them to fall asleep at night!!! Without letterboxing, I don't think they'd ever fall to sleep!!!
