Noooooo, Ryan. I like the idea of a CLUE better. A box that only the sharp-eyed get for noticing little insignificant foibles from the Great Green Guru. :-)

I think for a small state there are quite a few. We usually stop off driving to the grandparents and do 1 or 2. Alot are in historical cemetaries which kind of freak my 8yr old daughter out but we usually can talk her into it. We did get attacked last time my some crazy biting horse fly that chased us out before we got the box. We also can go to Mass and Conn in a fairly short time.

I manage a men's softball team--we play on Sunday afternoons, sometimes at 3 p.m. They sweat, they get winded, they collapse on the bench, but I'll give them credit, they don't whine. And we're talking REAL intense heat in Houston.

Yeah, kind of nice to be able to plan your own life, instead of others planning it for you! 8-D

But seriously, we've already hit Walmart for the school supplies we'll plow through this homeschool year (our 15th). I love buying the new pencils (regular and colored), crayons, markers, gluesticks, etc. Load up for my Cub Scouts, too.

Baby is due next week, so only 18 more years to go...;-)

Best of luck to all students this year!

32 years of homeschooling!!!

Wow! What a commitment from someone who didn't really want children!...

See, I remember the story from the Trailnames ring!! Heehee!

I am off to Walmart today if I can get the sleepy kids up! And not mine....guests! Time to show them the way it is around here!

Yep!! Dump that ole IE :)

Although there are some pages I still need it, IE: (<--he he had to) Microsoft's web page but there are very few sites that need it anymore.

Wow! I humbly bow to the Master! 15 years of homeschooling and a baby on the way - now, that's awe-inspiring!

This is only our 7th year of homeschooling (and planning our own life!); we don't officially 'start' until after the fall festivals (Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur & Succot - which can be an education in itself!).

On a side note, what does Ryan care if school starts soon/now? He isn't affected - he just likes to tweak us... :-)

Is darn right scary what people think they know. LOL

I learned most of what I know by just watching my grandpa, aunts, uncles, dad...they all had older V8s and/or hot rods. Much of it is logic and common sense IF you know how an engine operates etc.

I am not as knowledgable with the new cars electronics (sensors and modules, bells and whistles LOL) but I still know enough to make logical determinations. Mikey has also taught me just a bit. HE never uses the term but he is a "master mechanic".

still amazed how many other things an oxygen sensor or a wheel speed sensor can effect.

I was in the habit of closing that new window when done but still having the detail page up so I can finish up using the tag button etc if needed.

Hi everyone!

With the recent release of Animaniacs on DVD, I got rather nostalgic for this very funny show...so I decided to start a postal ring! It will launch September 20 with 12 max participants. I have chosen my favorite character - Dot Warner - but any other character is fine.

Send me a message if you have any questions!

You know, I'm a teacher too and I must agree with year-round school. The reason for summers off is long past....most kids wouldn't know a baler if it ran over them. Yep, 9 weeks on, 3 weeks off really sounds good and logical.....since everyone seems to think kids lose too much over summer. I'm 60 and I know that if you LEARN something, then it isn't lost after 8 weeks or so.

Oops...there I am on my soapbox again!!

Nope, not to me. We homeschool year round, and it works just fine.

When I was a kid, and being the oldest, summer vacation meant watching my siblings while my parents worked. I would have loved for school to go year round!

All those buildings idling by, while teachers have their summers off, teenagers wandering around town, kids in daycare all the time...they are better off in school.

I know, not the popular viewpoint...

Okay, I have to admit, that back to school theme was a glitch. =) It was never supposed to go up today! I set it to go up September 1st which I figured was a more "traditional" time for school starting (though admittedly, schools starting the day after Labor Day seems to be becoming quite rare nowdays).

Because I hadn't created any themes for August (not a single one!), it skipped through that month and started executing the code for September 1st. Sorry for the false alarm, but that theme was WAY too early for most people! =)

Quote When things open in a new window, (e.g. 'Post Message' when replying to a message) I tend to end up with a load of windows/tabs open without realizing it until I close down.

Actually, that only happens if you look at lots of messages by viewing the list as 'extended'. I didn't want people to lose their place in the long list of messages by taking them off that page. It's rather inelegant since ideally the new page to post a reply should close when the person finishes posting the message, and it's on my to-do list for fixing. =)

"Dogs have owners, cats have staff!"

Amen! I have a plaque with that saying sitting next to my computer. It's there to remind me -as I clean up yet another hairball- that he's not my pet...I am HIS pet!

If my cat could talk he'd ask me if the staff could please clean his litterbox in a more timely fashion.

He'd also say that he didn't realize his habit of sleeping in the middle of the staircase was a hazard.

It's been my intention to set up a 'message board' system for postal trackers so it wouldn't require people having to create a new Yahoo Group, sign everyone up for it, and so forth.

Just a matter of getting around to doing it.....

You'd have to not log in for an entire year before any of your boxes get orphaned. And you'll get a warning e-mail about a month before that happens to give you a chance to do something about it. Logging in two or three times a week won't even get you on a finger wagging list. =)
