::hoping this works::
I do have question though...
With another major arcana swap already happening, will this swap be seeing a bunch of duplicate carves from the other swap? I know I'm going to pick a new card (or two or three), but I wonder what everyone else is going to choose to do...

To anyone who checks this board with any regularity... I live in the Montreal area and have begun populating the city with a few boxes of my own creation. (Just two at the moment.) Anyone else on the boards living around here?

geocaching.com won't permit anyone planting a geocache closer than 528 feet from another geocache

Why 528 feet? Just curious!

Funhog,

My gut instinct is that the folks who "followed the clues perfectly" but couldn't find your box placed another box there because they thought yours had gone missing and they wanted other folks searching for your box to find something and not come up empty handed.

528 feet is 1/10 the measure of a commonly US distance unit. The rest of the world uses km for similar measurements.

Most handheld GPS that geocachers are accurate within 10-20 ft. The 528 ft distance was chosen to prevent any likelihood of overlap.

My heart goes our to her and to you :) It sounds like you are willing to do whatever it takes to help this young girl. That's nice!

Well, with Halloween now over, I have decided to post away about my upcoming event in January called New Hampshire New Year 2009 - Jan 17th, 2009.
http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?gEventId=609
Most all the information is posted on the event page, but new information will be posted there and here between now and the event. I am, how ever, needing to talk about the special Presidential guest that will be coming to the event. Rumors have been circulating as to who this President might be. I have still been asked to not tell whom this person is due to the security risk invloved in releasing his name, so please, do not start rumors. This will only become a media circus and other will want to come to the gathering too! How ever, waht I can tell you is a famous speech will be read to everyone that attends.
With that being said, I am planning away on things for the event. Games for everyone and prizes too!

You can see how you voted on individual boxes (and change the votes as you see fit) from the Record Ratings page.

So where is the Record Ratings page? How do you get to it, other than bookmarking this message?

If you have a small signature stamp and would like to see my Sock Monkey plb, the logbook has 3 half pages left. Please email me your address, email address, and a sock monkey fact. Please do not email me if your signature stamp is larger than 2"x2". I'll take the first 3 that follow instructions. ;)

Well, we told the students no witches, but we had a few little witches running around. Our principal sent out an email and told us to refer to them as wizards.... I'm not sure why that makes it any better, but it made her feel better.

It isn't all that well hidden. Just click 'Letterboxes' on the top menu bar.

So, if you really think that a couple of letterboxes out of the 40 you've found deserve to be blue diamonds, then you should look at how you've rated your finds over time and recompare and adjust your ratings to reflect what the system says is the percentage it expects to see.
Right?

Good Morning Carolinas!!

I just realized it's been 2 months....yes 2 months tomorrow since I've been letterboxing. I've had to amuse myself w/ postals and old AQ posts. Travel, court, birthdays, school, pta, piano, dance, football, laundry, kids, groceries, work......and do you know that Christmas is only 8 weeks away?! That's only 16 more shopping days for us weekend shoppers. :-)

Just want to pop in and say hello....I've tried to keep up with the boards, but many days...just have to "mark as read". Everyone here is healthy, wealthy and wise?? Well maybe not all three, but....hope all is well in your worlds. Wanted to let you know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth or fallen into a black hole..haha.

What's new with you? Lots new in AQ...Groups, Chat Rooms.....my brain is overloaded. Maybe someone should start a boxers n briefs for the Carolinas!!

That's what it sounded like to me. If it were "poached" then I would expect that the planter posted a new box in their name on AQ or LBNA and copied and pasted Funhog's clues into their description of how to get to the box.

I create and solve virtuals. I agree with TT about the verbiage. And I understand GG's anxiety about the talk of moving non-traditionals to another site. In my opinion it's never really worked well when virtuals were removed from geocaching and called waymarks - (and that's speaking from experience because I waymark too). Glad to see that Ryan has no intentions on moving out the non-traditionals. It may be too late to change the titles of what we now call the NTs.

Has anyone ever tried using a small thermos to plant in?

I see them in use frequently while geocaching. They hold up well. Go for it.
