LTC Swap at Live and Breathe

This swap was sooooo amazing that I just have to share it with you all!

At 1:00 pm on Saturday, we held an official LTC swap for the attendees at We Live and Breathe Letterboxing event. We scheduled this time to meet so that everyone didn't have to carry their LTC's all over camp all day.

At 1:00 on the nose people started coming into the lodge with their boxes, binders, card holders, and even a suitcase full of LTC stuff. Kreepy Kelli, that was so funny to see you wheel your suitcase in!

It was an LTC swappin frenzy and when the dust finally cleared about an hour later, I came away with a Velveeta Cheese box full of swaps!

Everyone laid out on the tables what they had to trade and swappers strolled down and picked out what they wanted. There were even small children anxious to get in on the fun and swap their cards.

We had people come in who were unfamiliar with LTC's and wanted to learn more, three-ring binders set out of swapper's collections for everyone to see, the AMAZING periodic table on display, and a display of all the different ways you can make an LTC. Thank you to all of the contributors of the LTC display for L&B. It was also AMAZING to see what people have done.

A big thank also goes out to those who contributed stamps, embellishments, paper and everthing else so that some could sit down and make LTC's to swap with and a bigger thank you to Mama B of Balladone Bunch and Tyra of Murray Herd for spearheading the LTC making event.

I had a ton of fun!

I agree! It would be hard to choose my favorite part of L&B, but this swap session would be right up there at the top of the list of potentials. Thank you to everyone for being so kind to Buggaboo and trading for her cards. You all made her feel very special!

Oh... man, I sure wish I could have gone to it... =(

But even if I had the chance, I couldn't really have traded much: I only had 10 cards in my binder...

Oh well, maybe next year! =D

reading these messages, although I didn't play makes me think that you might want to start it on a weekend when no one had the conflictions of work or school

I must say I agree with the starting on a weekend. I didn't even have a chance to play really. I logged on at work and only got to answer questions.
Oh well, it sounds like everyone had a blast, and the cards I received are AWESOME... Great job everyone!
I would love to play again!

I'm trying to keep the wiki updated with links to blogs where people are posting their LTCs. I think it's very helpful to new folks (and some of us that are not so new) to see what others are doing or have done. Thanks to GJ for bring so thoughtful to start the trend. Her blog is at the top of the list.

It now looks like this.

If you have a blog where you post your LTCs, please let us all know!

Just because the murder has been solved that doesn't mean you can't play and try to figure it out for yourself. I'm available to reply to suggestions!!!

a variant of the clue game that was just played... I've had some questions from participants on how this will work, plus there's some openings left, so to clear things up and do a little advertising all at once, here's how it's going to work...

you sign up, and then aqmail me and give me a suspect, weapon, and location. suspects cannot be living persons. nothing can have duplicate names. other than that, anything goes.

nobody actually makes any cards. (except me, later)

once we have a full tracker, I will assign everyone a partner. yes, you will need a partner, because there will be 20 suspects, 20 weapons, and 20 locations to weed through. you can aqmail back and forth as much as you want with your partner. I will also assign each person someone they are not talking to. you may not aqmail the person you are not talking to, in order to ask them a question. if they aqmail you, you must only say, "I'm sorry, I'm not talking to you."

I will shuffle all the suspects, weapons, and locations. then (so that I can play too) my daughter will pick out who did it, with what, and where. I will not know what the solution is. my daughter will then aqmail everyone with which evidence they have. everyone will have different evidence. everyone will have one suspect, one weapon, and one location.

when the game starts, you can talk with your partner as much as you like, and share information freely between you. each of you may email each participant of the tracker (except the person each of you is not talking to) once each day. (if any one person asks you two things in the same day, only answer one of them. remember that statements have three items in them, but you only have to clear one of the items...if you can...if you can't, then just say so...the "neither confirm or deny" answers today drove me crazy)

when you have figured out the solution, then one of you aqmails my daughter with your accusation. (tell her who your partner is, when you make an accusation) if you're wrong, you're out. if you're right, you're a winner. I will make first and second place cards for both members of the first and second place teams.

interested?? sign up here

My binders are organized by trailname. This makes it so easy to see what I have from any LTCer at any given time. However, that means that swaps are scattered throughout the pages. This does not bother me, except in this case where people wouldn't be able to appreciate the scope of the game. These cards and this game are/were just to fun to separate.

Here's my plan: Arrange the cards on black velvet, along with various items from the Clue board game, the Clue envelope that dewberry made for us and something to indicate the frenzy of the game itself. Then mat and frame. I may do it in three to five frames or just one large one; I'm leaning toward multiple frames because then I can arrange them gallery or cluster style.

BUT I don't want to skip these cards in the binders, which as I mentioned is how I know what cards I have of yours. So, I am asking if I can make a color copy of the front of your cards for the book, with a note on the back explaining where the originals are.

Thanks!

Tee
