I added this gathering to the event board. The guest list is getting longer and we certainly hope to see you there!

You certainly don't want to miss this event, old friends, new friends, the world's best pizza, and a mystery to solve (which includes 22 stamps). How could you say no to that. For all the details see the event calendar!

Ryan, does the new icon after the name show up after you've made a certain number of posts? I was curious about my number, but there isn't an icon on mine. I went and looked it up through the view last posts part on my profile, and I had a decent number of posts, but maybe not enough yet.

Just wondering,

Yes, after 25. If you go to someone else who has stars, click on it and it will take you to User Atributes. There you'll see the entire cycle of stars and colors.

Hope this helps you,

I was digging around a bit and found these boxes. I'm not sure what their status is, but thought I'd put the info here.

As soon as I finish revising it, find an agent and then sell it. :-)

Don't worry - I'll be sure to spread the word when that happens!

that does help. I've been to that page many times, but not since the explanation of the stars was added. I'm still a little confused though b/c I've definitely posted more than 25 times, and there aren't any on my profile. It isn't a big deal, but I'm wondering if there is a glitch in the system or if the stars don't show up when I am the one looking at my own info. Just thought I'd ask.

Hmmm, that is odd. I can see my stars by clicking on my profile. I wonder if you logged out and back in if it would correct itself. If not, I'd say you've found a bug.

Odd, to say the least. Hope it clears up for you.

Hmm.... Let us see....

Looking back at the code, it looks like it wasn't displaying the icon for anyone with less than 50 posts. Originally, when I first started working with it, 50 posts was going to be original threshhold for getting an icon, but I lowered it to 25. Forgot to update the important line of code that says "If the user's number of post is greater than or equal to 50, display an icon".

Anyhow, it's fixed now. =)

Happy trails!

We plan a trip to Tennessee in a couple of months so of course we have to grab a few boxes. We plan to go to Shiloh and other Civil War sites. Any suggestions on boxes?

I thought the rule in Alabama was that you should get anything you can because you'll be lucky if there's a letterbox anywhere you visit. Not enough boxes to start getting selective about which ones to pick. ;o)

Hey Cheryl

I live so close but haven't landed any of the AL boxes yet. I do have some insight from other boxers. The Fort Morgan box is probally missing due to Hurricane Ivan hitting the spot head on. The boxes on Oak Mnt. (south rim and yellow hammer I think) are on the same trail but the road was closed at the end so you'll have to hike back the way you came doubling the distance. It may be fixed by now but worth checking out before the hike. I also hear Jasons Tannehill series is very nice (10). Hope this helps let us know when and where you'll be I'm sure a few of us could make the trip if we not at a gathering.

Yah, yah, yah. It's true we couldn't find Eagle's Nest. But, we had people with us and couldn't spend very long checking the clues to see if we were starting at the right place. something about teh fence didn't match the clues just right.

And... the squeezebox! We need to get out there and change that logbook for the squeezeboxers! Yikes, I bet that logbook is twice full.

Glad you had a nice day at the rock KitCat.

Eagles Nest gave us a hard time too. Don't feel bad! And as for the squeezebox, well we never did find that one!

Gosh, every box is different for everybody. We had no trouble with Eagle's Nest but couldn't find that darn Squeezebox. And I was walking around the mountain by myself with a 7 and a 4 year old! We've got to give it another go soon!

Hi Cheryl.

There aren't a lot of folks from TN on AtlasQuest. The main letterboxer up there is She Who Plants and she also chooses not to be on AQ! You might try emailing her at shewhoplants@aol.com for the 411. If that email address doesn't work anymore, email her via letterboxing.org.

Good luck!

No, there will always be something new to add or modify. Every time I finish one thing, there's always some other new idea to do. Even have a notebook I use to keep track of all the random ideas for new and improved features floating around and the list NEVER gets shorter!

Happy trails!

Oh Darn, Mark! We'd have enjoyed meeting you at the restaurant. Maybe next time. We also like the Continental Coffee shop- it has fond memories for Billy and me! Not to mention Memorable Books- have you ever poked around in there? It's our all-time favorite used bookstore. We were sad to see that the toy shop is gone, though.

We were looking in the wrong spot for the squeezebox at first, but I realized our mistake pretty quickly and then we had no trouble. The log book is full, but someone left some loose pages to stamp on. We used one of those, and there were still several blank ones to go. But a fresh log book is a good idea, I think! I was very impressed with the quality of some of the sig stamps in there.

Yes, as far as Eagle's Nest goes, we need to start over at the top of the mountain, I think. We did the squeezebox first, and may have missed something in going back to do Eagle's Nest. We'll try again- there's still plenty of boxing to do there! :)

Granny and I are at the mountain frequently. We will be glad to replace the logbook for the sqeezeboxers if no one else is planning to do it. Seems like it was full when we found it several months ago.

I really enjoyed it up til the end and although this is the part of the story that we are all most familiar with...the confrontation with Dorothy throwing the water on her etc. I found it lacking. It seemed rushed and just ended too soon for me. There was so much detail and intrique earlier and then boom it ended. Other than that, I was fascinated by the whole thing. I think I will be reading more of Maguire.

These Boxes are not listed on Atlas Quest, but I had a great time hunting for them the other day. The log books are really great and the stamps are store-bought, but the trails are interesting. (One of the letterboxes is by an old abandoned outhouse! :-) All in all, a fun day letterboxing.
