Woo-Hoo, a Board all our own. Now let those creative juices flow and show us those Bind-it-Alls can do. Looking forward to all the great ideas that are to come.

I've made custom logbooks for my kids. Princesses for one, Thomas for the other... My sister said her daughter would love one, but she doesn't box. For Christmas I made a Tinkerbell book with lots of blank pages for her to color, draw, or write notes. Her mother loved it more than my niece did : )

Folks,

Lets get the discussions going. First off, what version does everyone have and for those who have tried both the blue (V1.0) and the pink (V2.0) what are some of the differences?

I have the blue and I've had it for a year and a half. When I got it, it didn't come with a spacer for the smaller sized rings. My local store (Absolutely Everything in Topsfield, MA) gave me one when I told them that Zutter was giving them away for free on their website.

I have the pink V2.0 and have never had any other BIA. Before I got the BIA I was using a hole punch and it took hours to make logbooks for our letterboxes. I am so glad those days are gone.

I'm curious if it was the 7 gypsies one? I was wondering how they match up to the BIA. It's certainly a lot cheaper and I was assuming you get what you pay for in this instance, as well.

To be perfectly honest I haven't even opened it yet. I'm not sure if you or everyone else knows exactly what it is for so, in short, it raises the paper up so the holes are closer to the edge. This is needed for the small rings. Otherwise the pages bind upon themselves when you try to open it. With that said, I really haven't had a need for these really small/thin logbooks yet. In theory, they should work fine.

Santa left a Pink (V2.0) under the tree. I added a spacer bar and some other wires that I found here:
https://www.joggles.com/
The space bar was is still on sale with other stuff. Just type "zutter" in the Product Search box.

I have the blue version and do not have the spacer---but after using some of the smaller rings, I can definitely see why they did the free giveaway! I need to get one of those even if I have to pay for it OR finagle one myself!

If I recall, the other advantage the pink version has over the blue is the easier way of lining up continuous hole punches for larger logbooks.

At some point, I am going to use my old motorcycle license plate for a logbook cover. It's supposed to cut through the metal?! Has anyone else tried that?

No it was one called your story and it does hard covers (have to use their books) and it was a laminator too.
i like the laminator, but would be way too costly, and they don't have small enough books

The spacer bar is really only needed for smaller logbooks, size 1/4" and 1/2". I use mine all the time and love it! It gives more "white area" for you to stamp on that isn't used up by the O-Wires. If your logbooks are larger than 1/2", it really isn't necessary but can still be used.

Ok since we are talking about the spacer bar, I ordered the blue version 1. When i looked up the spacer bar it said it was only for the 2.0 is that true.....or can you use it on version 1???
And does anyone have the link to get one if you can use it on version 1?
Thanks

Yes and no... be careful! The older steel plates will NOT work and can permanently damage your BIA. The aluminum plates should work and though they say they "won't guarantee" it, they feature a license plate book in their "Bound 2 Bind" book. They have a disclaimer here which states the following:

Regarding Metal:
For those of you that are interested in binding license plates it is important for
you to note the following:

The more modern license plates are made of thin aluminum. These do work with the Bind-it-All, however it is not recommended. Consumers are doing so at their own risk. The idea book, Bound 2 Bind, does in fact have a license plate book which was submitted by a designer and of course it was a nice innovative idea and that is why it was published. In this instance, it was a thin and soft aluminum license plate and was therefore manageable by the Bind-it-All.

Older license plate are made of steel which is much stronger than the current thin aluminum ones. These older license plates are in no way recommended to be used by the Bind-it-All. They can cause permanent damage to the Bind-it-All.

The V2.0 can punch 35% more material, and has an extension bar and plate that helps align pages from 1" to 12". Oh.......... and it's Pink! ;o)

Thanks so much for pointing out the disclaimer, Dizzy! I do have a newer plate but I think I might reconsider risking my BIA. Not sure it will be worth taking the chance!

I have a pink. No spacer bar. Still not sure I understand the purpose. But I also tend to make larger books.

~Aurora,

What usually happens that messes up the row? Do they tend to go crooked or do they become mis-spaced (larger and smaller gaps)?

If they go crooked, then just make sure there is no residual paper in the slot where the stock sits when punching the holes, and make sure the stock is firmly seated.

If the holes are mis-spaced, then just make sure you are using the little "peg" on the index (the black plastic thing) in the second hole you already punched.

Scroll to the bottom of this page to see images of the difference in using the space bar or not. Notice how the holes are closer to the edge with the space bar. It lifts the paper up to make the holes punch closer to the edge.

Aurora---me too. I can't get the spacing right. I have learned to practice on just a single piece of paper rather than a stack?!?!

I don't think my BIA has that..... Can you post a picture for those of us who are peg-challenged?

....and for the smaller rings, if the holes are NOT closer to the edge of the paper, that extra paper can get hung up when turning the pages inside the rings and making turning the pages difficult or worse, eventually tear.

Thanks so much for posting this web site! I just ordered the space bar and got a new heaping supply of o-wires! I do wish they carried the 5/8th size but settled for some of the 1/2 and some of the 3/4 inch size! Now I can keep busy until the new PZKut comes back!

I compared the price to using my 40% coupons at Hobby Lobby and it's a pretty good deal considering you can only buy one package of 2 wires at HL at a time with your coupon. Saves me the grief!

Thanks again!

Here it is. I couldn't figure out how to put a bold little red circle on the photo to indicate the peg, but what I can tell you is the "C" and "D" arrows are pointing directly at it in this photo:

http://www.atlasquest.com/images/gallery/08/57/82957lg.jpg

Once you make the first set of holes, you would line up one of the holes with this peg and slide the index back so that this peg goes through the hole.

Oh?! lol

I haven't looked to see what state you live in---but did you hear my "ah-hah" moment from here in Ohio?! THAT peg?! THAT's a PEG?! Ohhhh! lol =) I get it! =D

Thank you SO much! That makes total sense now and is basically fool-proof?! Good enough for me as well! =P

And until I looked at YOUR picture, I didn't realize there was an arrow on top pointing to A---etc. Geez---I think I've been lining everything up wrong thinking the back of that slider thing was what letter you chose. OMG, it's a wonder what I've done worked at all, but it did somehow?!

MEGA thanks!!
