By the way, did you notice that Frank called both Sayid and Desmond survivors of Oceanic 815? Do you think Frank knows that Desmond was not on the flight manifest?

Good point. He must know that Desmond wasn't on the flight since he's memorized the flight manifest and we know that he knows that Juliet wasn't on the flight.

As fate would have it, or maybe it isn't fate at all, maybe it's all you kind folks who dig my feeble attempts at carving and creating LTCs, I am down to my last 3 copies of "SHUT-UP!" Anyone want'em? I'm taking the first 3 AQ-mails. I have to go out to the shop and cut some mounting blocks for a couple of stamps and when I get back, I will check again. If they are claimed, they are claimed. What'du'you have to trade?

These are hysterical!

The biggest boo boo, I named my youngest after a Black 47 song! I swore I hear the line:

Where the wild, wild women were waitin' for me
Think of me Riley whenever you see me there on your MTV

It must have been the accent.. When I went to get the lyrics to the song to show her why I named her... oops.. it wasn't Riley.. it was Bridie! Still love her name!

I'll just add my 2 cents worth (which given the state of our economy maybe isn't worth that much!)

Thanks to gollygee (organizer extraordinaire), the Pranksterly Pete (restaurant picker and cheerleader), geometry junkie (for getting the ball rolling) and zess (for encouraging me to come).

I had a great time meeting the out-of-towners, putting faces to trail names and "re-meeting" folks from the Hookset event. (I even got a chance to eat and drink a little something amongst all the stamping). What a great community this is, kids and adults alike.

Watching the snow fall and fall and fall and fall,

Quote I wonder if a nasty pasty is someone's special recipe?! I bet it's full of stuff that's terrible for you too, yum!

The Nasty Pasty is a restaurant that appears with some degree of regularity in Lilian Jackson Braun's "Cat Who" books. :) I thought it was a great name!

I usually make pasties into a do-it-yourself event when people come over to eat. I make a big batch of pie crust, dice up all kinds of fillings and have them ready and waiting on the counter in different bowls (potatoes, turnips, rutabagas, onions, meat, mushrooms, carrots, cheese) so that people can choose what they like, or whether they want to go carnivore or veggie. Then, I roll out rounds of dough and let my guests fill their own, add salt and pepper, seal them and use their initials as the vent holes in the pasty. :) It's a very popular meal - I pop all of them into the oven and we all go have a salad or snack and chat while they cook (about 40 minutes at 450, if I recall correctly). Yum! I think I need to make these soon -- they also freeze well and I can have a couple easy dinners for myself ready to pop in the oven when I get home from work!

Songwriter -

I was fortunate enough to spend time with the Beatles in Beavercreek. It is an amazing set.

I have a friend coming in June that did not make it to Beavercreek - she would love to see this set. That is why I'd love to see it make it.

Take care!

I think the ring may be just another thing to keep us guessing. One notices it right away and thinks, 'oh, penny is married', but then she overtly puts her left, non ringed hand over her right hand while speaking to Desmond on the phone...

Not that wiki is the ultimate authority, but they say that in the UK and Ireland (France, Sweden and Italy too) the tradition is that the wedding ring is worn on the left hand. Other European countries such as Poland and Spain have the right hand tradition.

Just throwing it out there..!

Does anyone have a suggestion for a nice place to stay in Charlotte the night of the 22nd?

I'm sending you an e-mail on this. I think this one is a bit harder since you are only coming through the North side of Charlotte-- I know the southside (and places to stay away from on the northside). Maybe the Huntersville folks have some input here: 4 Auburn Fans, Smiley 5, 3 Sunshine-- are you reading this?

So what on earth would your stamp look like if you were actually putting forth your best effort?!

When you list your LTC trackers, please list them as "other" so they don't show up in postal tracker searches.

I don't want PLB'ers mad at us again.

Plus... it makes it easier to search for LTC trackers to join.

Board: Food For Thought

Thread Board
I was going to post this ages ago and, well, I didn't seem to have the recipe and a computer keyboard and a few extra minutes in the same place at the same time. Here it is:

Cream Cheese Kieflies

Dough:
1-1/2 cups flour
6 oz cream cheese
1/2 lb butter / margarine
1/2 tsp baking powder
3-1/2 Tbsp milk
3-1/2 Tbsp half and half
Powdered sugar

Filling:
1-1/2 cups ground walnuts
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
For the filling, simply mix everything together and set aside - this can be done at the same time you are making the dough, or you can wait until the next day, when you're ready to bake.

For the dough:
Work cheese into flour with pastry blender
Work butter in roughly
Add the rest of the ingredients, except the powdered sugar
Chill overnight

When ready to bake:
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
Pull off a piece the size of a walnut and roll it paper thin on a heavily floured board
Place 1/2 - 3/4 tsp (we use more than this in my family but this is the traditional amount) filling in the
center
Fold one end of dough over filling and roll remaining dough around it, then twist the ends and pull them forward a little so that you have a sort of crescent shape.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet
Bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees, or until straw colored.
Remove from cookie sheet and roll in powdered sugar
Let cool on a rack
Roll in powdered sugar one more time

Store these covered loosely, or the crusts will loose some of that nice crispness. Don't worry -- they usually don't last very long at all, so they won't go bad!!

Let me know if you have any questions -- it is kind of a complicated process and takes a while, but they're really, really tasty (and they make my brother-in-law sooooooo happy)!
