Say not in grief "he is no more," but live in thankfulness that he was.
How wonderful that you allowed little Eric to be a donor so others could benefit.
My thoughts are with you all.

does anyone else LOVE to have people report that they found your boxes? i do. ive only planted one, but i love getting the reports. and we've only gotten 2 on AQ, and 2 on LbNA, but we went to check on our box today and there were at least 5 addition finds! we were so excited! i dont understand though why more people dont report they have found boxes. i love seeing the report, and i love reporting the ones ive found. do most of you report your found boxes?

Ranger makes its Archival Ink Pad in a 4x6 size. I am not sure of all the colors, but that will give you a place to start hunting.

Of course, after I hit send I find the link. No metallics, but sepia might be cool. I always have problems with the metallic inks anyway.

Most definitely, I love to see the numbers go up...hit 100 today and I have planted 15 and also enjoy getting reports on those!!

Many times you will see more stamps in your letterbox logbooks than what has been repoted and that is because there may be children stamping in and only the parent/parents are registered with AQ.

While in Colorado 10 years ago we accidentally found Frisco, due to a sudden snow storm. We were on some very curvy roads. =) It remains one of my favorite parts of my visit. So for me its neat to hear that there is a Lb there.

I report EVERYTHING I find- traditional boxes, HHs, cooties, etc. But about 60% of the finders of my boxes have not reported their finds on either LbNA or AQ. Mostly, these are local people who have never planted a letterbox, so maybe once they plant one they will realize that getting reports is not only fun but can alert you if your letterbox needs first aid or (horrors) may be missing.

I always report and LOVE getting updates on my boxes. I thought for SURE no one had found one box I planted last month, but found out today that there has been a couple people logged in without reporting to to me. I've never found any boxes by those people, so they probably don't plant, just find.

I love to hear from people who find my boxes. I also like to make sure I let people know when I find their boxes.

One thing that has happened a couple of times, we were unable to find a couple of boxes and are really sure that they are gone, We've notified the owners and have never even heard from them.

By Letterboxing Buddy, you mean a small toy with its own logbook? These are in the "other" category as "Letterboxing Buddy: ---". Unfortunately, I missed the one at Southern Highlands; they sound interesting.

Hi Sparky Butterfly - Just a word of caution regarding automated translators - they aren't necessarily the most accurate with the results that you will get. They are *ok*, but take it with a (large) grain of salt!

If you know anyone who speaks Danish or German, who is perhaps a fellow letterboxer, you could ask them to help you decipher the clues into English. It's been my experience that fellow LB'ers are most willing to help with just about anything!

Having said that, I will now reveal that I am fluent in German, and would love the opportunity to put to good use my German knowledge to help you with your LB quest while in Europe. :-) I wish I could fit in your suitcase and go with you! I haven't been back to Europe since 1999.

Unfortunately I don't speak Danish - so maybe if you post in the LB Denmark thread, you'll get a reply there.... :)

Say goodbye to the Queen of Mountain Music

One of my most favorite people in the world left us yesterday :-(
this world is now a bit poorer without her smiling face!
Mary Jane Queen was born, raised and now passed on...
in the same little house on Caney Fork Creek... in these mountains she loved.

No one... no one...
can possibly have the words to paint a picture of Mary Jane and her trueness,
beauty within and her colorful heart of love.
She was a true appalachian mother of the land and of her music.

I am not sure yet...
how I will do any justice to her ways of touching so many lives...
but I do feel i need to immortalize her memory in a letterbox.
If anyone has stories or things to contribute... please let me know!

I can't stop the laughs and the tears when my mind hears her 83 year old voice singing
"I wish I was a single girl again" while plucking the tune on her banjo. when she finished...she would always throw her head back and have a good laugh!

We have lost part of this place...
your song and smile will always part of me

love ya...dixie

Is there any reason why I wouldn't be getting these? They're not diverted by my spam filter- it just appears that I've stopped being notified at my email address when I get new AQ mail. It's new in the past week or two. I checked to make sure I still have that checked in preferences so... any ideas?

If I had to guess, I'd say there's probably at least one unread message in your inbox. You won't get any notifications if there are unread messages in your inbox under the assumption that you've already been notified. (It used to only check new AQ mail in your inbox since your last login, but I changed that for technical reasons I won't get into.) Right now, I see at least one unread message in your inbox from the 27th, so you would not have gotten any notifications at least since that time. (If you had other unread messages when that message was generated, though, it could have been even longer since your last notification.)

Anyone know of any 'must find' boxes in either of these two towns?

I did not know Mary Jane Queen, nor had I ever heard of her. I thought I would look and see what this woman whom you are speaking of so thoughtfully was about. I found several articles on her and I see why she will be missed. She looks like she would have been one of those people who drew you in, you heard her words and music and actually listened to what she had to say. Sounds like she had it "rough" growing up but she and her family made the best of what they had and learned from the experiences and loved life. Something we should all learn some aspect of. I never knew her or heard her sing but I wish now I had. Now she is singing with the angels :o)
Hugs and my sincere heartfelt love to all of her friends and family.
