I have to say that letterboxing has gotten me outdoors much more. With my allergies, I have to be careful to not trigger asthma, but I definitely get out WAY more than I used to!
We have kids that live in 'destinations', so 18 hours west (Western Colorado) or 12 hours east (Virginia) ..... I definitely stop more on the drives and do trails we normally just drive past. And another child is in Chicago which NEEDS more letterboxes, so I hope to get more boxes planted there this summer! Goals : )
I am exploring the area parks where I live and many area Forest Preserves and kinda thinking about IF a park would be good for an event. I am tryng to attend events and observing what it entails...... Not sure I could do one alone though. We do not have big wooded areas like out East for sure! And, not many areas here for camping or RV's........

Rather than just walking down a trail and maybe missing things around me, I notice more because I'm looking for landmarks that may be named in the clues.

And looking for things causes me to walk slower in places, or stop and look around. I know I'm noticing a lot more than I would be if I was just walking along....weird tree shapes, boulders off in the distance, colors, sounds.

A fantastically fabulous amazing event. Great location, wonderful stamps, clever series. It was SO MUCH FUN!

I've always loved spending time outdoors enjoying God's creation. Letterboxing has brought me to so many new parks and nature areas that I never would have known about or visited otherwise.

I already appreciated nature and hiking before letterboxing, but it has given me a vehicle for bringing others to some of my favorite places, just as others have brought me to places I never knew about. In the process of placing boxes I have had to learn names of plants I didn't know before and which ones offer good hiding spots or are best left alone. It has also shown me that even the most mundane park can offer something of interest, even if it is just historical.

Happy 10th 🎂🎂 AQ-day to both of you. It has been fun getting to know you across the LB miles!!!

Ooohhhhh, my youngest lives in Virginia (Fairfax) - we'll be there Memorial Day weekend and I plan on going to Paper Trails event. Wil you attend that event???
I would love to spend an entire summer in DC- so much to do there and great museums!

Our family would like to, one again, thank those who are sending cards to Lynnette. She will read them aloud but doesn't seem to relate what the words mean to her and will often hold them until we put another in her hands. She still has some mobility and will often tuck things where we wouldn't expect to find them, like her hearing aids that she slid under her mattress, lol!
For the most recent cards we could find, thanks to Little Foot, DayTrippers54, Kathy from Ohio, Cecilia D, Jayne B. from California, Connie from Texas, Sherry and Joann.

After she enjoys the cards for a couple months, the fronts are sent to St. Jude's Recycled Card program and others to a local children's consignment store to make tags for merchandise.

You kindness has a ripple effect. Blessings to all.

I dropped several in the mail this weekend. Tracking says you should have them this Friday or Saturday.

Yep, we are going to do it again. Different park this time. Don't know which just yet. Might even be a 2 day event so we can get in some night boxing.

Released in 2023 comes our 4th WA movie . . . Asteroid City.

The premise is as follows:

I think . . . it's about a play being developed, being broadcasted, being produced????

So, the play, the movie, the development is about a collection of people who come to Asteroid City for the Junior Stargazer Awards. The recipients are all children who invented inventions beyond their years.

As it happens each collection of people, including a school teacher and her pupils, and roving band, all have their own personal issue going on.

There's the family whose car has a strange mechanical malfunction. Their mother has died, and he had failed to tell the children 3 weeks after her passing. The father struggles with his grief. But more over, he struggles with his role in his life, in the play, in the production.

Then there is Dinah, who's brilliance is eclipsed (see what I did there) by her mother's celebreality status.

Then there's the kid who insists on be dared to do crazy things. He has a hurt that needs to be addressed.

But moreover, on the night of the awards a special eclipse is supposed to happen when a very unexpected event happens with the eclipse.

Having said more than enough, on to my WA Paws:

This movie is visually stunning. It's gorgeous. One WA Paw.

Everyone is very committed to their role and does a fine job. Jason Swartzman does an outstand job of being a bereaved father and he has this great moment with Margot Robbie. Tom Hanks delivers. But One WA Paw.

But that is it. I mean there are great moment with Tom Hanks and his granddaughters but overall, I didn't get the point of this movie. I didn't care to for the full frontal of Scarlett Johansson. I didn't understand the importance of alien coming. I didn't get a lot of this movie. I simply thought this was such a waste of absolute talent.

Okay, as it Monday, I am going to have skip Wednesday's review and shoot for Sunday.

I love Wes Anderson's movies, but this is the only one of his movies that I fell asleep watching. When I woke up I asked my husband if I missed anything important to the plot, he said "No. You were better off sleeping."
