Well, since some of us are working with 17" screens while others are working with 4" screens, I guess you gotta decide what you're gonna do.

When I visit Seattle (once a year about, like in May of 2014) I LOVE going downtown. I have eaten at some of the restaurants (like Pegasus Pizza (Alkai) and Flying Fish) and enjoyed both of them.

Also, I have done the underground tour. SO MUCH FUN! Highly recommend that. I have pictures from it and I still enjoy some of the things I learned from it. We did that a few years ago.

The aquarium is something to behold. I really enjoyed that. Also, Pikes place is fun, but only once maybe. I don't enjoy going because it's such a tourist trap, but it was fun to go once. If you do post crossing, load up here! The EMP was cool. It's an ugly building but don't let that dissuade you from going. It was enjoyable once, but shouldn't be on your list if you're only going to Seattle for a day or two.

If you enjoy funky cool areas of town, head up to Capitol Hill and have a look see at the gay area of town. Lots of cool shops up there too. I hear from a friend who lives in Seattle, goats are popular pets up there right now. Also, there is a Harry Potter themed letterbox in a 'wiccan' shop in Seattle. I can't remember the name of it, but that area of town has a lot of cool stuff, where that shop is located.

Highly recommend Gas Works park for carving or planting. :) On a sunny day, bring a blanket to sit on the grass (geese poop here).

As far as shopping goes, the places I went where I got cool stuff: The Sock Monster (delicious gelato shop nearby), Archie McPhee (cool postcards and goofy stuff), Uwajimaya (amazing asian market), Kinokunaya (LOVE this bookstore with cool stuff), (There is an AMAZING letterbox a few blocks away from here in a small beautiful park. Highly recommend it), check on Yelp!, it was a great help in finding cool places to eat and shop.

If you're staying in Bellevue (I think), head up north to Everett and catch the boxes in the large park there. You'll have several days worth of boxes to find. :D We went for 12 hours and didn't find but maybe half. I think it's Forest Park. Mt. Vernon has a nice park too where there are a bunch of boxes.

This is only my input as a regular visitor and tourist there. I can only offer what I've enjoyed. You might have better luck with other suggestions too, depending on how you like to visit places. :)

Selected this tab this morning and nothing was there except the buttons on the right. Refreshed, logged out and in, clicked the link below the maps - it all ended up with a blank screen.

The buttons on the side seemed to work fine. All other tabs appeared normal.

Maybe I wore it out? :-)

Nope mines blank as well. I'm thinking that Walking4Fun and Facebook rang in the New Year together, and Walking4Fun got the bright idea to defriend us all this morning.

There will be an update very soon...

But yes, we will have a tree trimming contest - trees at individual sites.

Angel Treads has a few ideas to make the Progressive Dinner festive...

But do keep those easily portable lights and trimming handy. Time to pick up that clearance tree at Lowes?

And those UGLY sweaters... don't pack them away... they could win you some letterboxing swag : )

Happy New Years everyone!

The mystery vegetable was pretty tasty. Thanks everyone for your ideas! The kids said, "Good, but not as good as artichokes." They are fans of artichokes. Maybe because of being allowed to make a big mess of the table with all the leaves. Or being able to dip in lemon butter sauce. Or because I only buy them when they are on sale. The flavor of cardoon was somewhat similar to artichokes.

I made cardoon gratinee, with cream sauce, parmesan and lemon zest. And everyone said they'd eat it again.

Thank you. This was roughly what I was thinking, too. What's driving me batty is that, since the event location is inherently known, then technically there are no mysteries... but I want there to be ;)

thank you to this community, as well as AQ. Thanks to the W4F, i walked 328 out of the 334 days i was registerd on W4F. i walked a little over 1193 miles - not quite the AT in a year, but a lot more than the Long Trail. i finished 3 trails, with one more 11 miles from done (hoping to finish today).

Not a bad year - and the company was TERRIFIC!!

Wow, all those little shops sound soooo neat!!!

I definitely want to actually see some of those neat places, as well as get some letterboxing in. So that is a good way for me to do it... find cool place... find the boxes near it.

Congratulations on your accomplishments!
I need to get back to keeping track of what I walk on that site. Without a pedometer, it is rather tedious. An app on my cell phone would act like I walked all the way across the parking lot when I stayed in my apartment, so I couldn't count on it. Maybe this new one will keep track better.

you'd be surprised how many steps you can rack up just walking around the house or apartment, it's more than you think.

What letter boxing goals/resolutions do you have? I am focusing on the big picture this year, as simply getting out and boxing is a bit of a challenge lately so with that in mind my plans are

To clean/ sort/ organize the several boxes of supplies etched I have accumulated. I am sure I have a few errant HH in the chaos, so will be getting those back in circulation as well as planting any misc. stamps I find and assembling quite a few log books!

To box more with Chickabee. I've got a kid who likes to box. Why am I not making the time?

To have quarterly boxing adventures with TMD. Seriously, once a year is not enough

Hoping 2014 is generous to all and that our paths cross occasionally

When I started on the site I didn't have a pedometer. I ONLY tracked my miles on weekends or sometimes during the week when I went for hikes. I'd slap on the My Tracks app and use that.

I really had no idea how many miles I was missing during the week until I got a pedometer half way through the year. It turns out that I easily walk a mile every day at work with the long walks to and from the parking lot, across the building, up and down the stairs, through the parking lot for lunch. That's an easy minimum of 5 miles per week that feels like I've done nothing for it.

since the event location is inherently known, then technically there are no mysteries

There can be. List the box with a mystery location and make it completely necessary to solve the clue to get the start point. Do NOT list it on the event page. Use the state or county as the location (or none at all) and then only the people that do their homework will even know that such a box exists in the area. If it's possible to leave it in place after the event, that's even better because then people that couldn't make it will have the chance to find it.

But yes, if you list the box on the event then it really needs to be a puzzle not a mystery.

Oh geez, I have a lot of spring cleaning to do....

I have hundreds of LTCs that need to go into a binder.
I have several stamps that need to find homes... am sending at least 2 of them away!
My craft area of our bedroom needs reorganizing.
I need a glass top for my table, so I don't have to worry about cleanup or scratches.

Get my find count to 500.
Plant a longer hike series in Starkey Wilderness Park. (Last year's plan that didn't happen).
Co-hosting a big (hopefully) event March 2015 with NMC at Hillsoborough River State Park, Thonotossassa, FL.

I have a couple other goals, but they are for me to know, and you all to find out. Heeheehee.
