I've gotten so many compliments on it today! SweetSarah13 carved it for me, but I'll still use the old one in smaller logbooks. I have an album of sigs.

We are saddened beyond words. His laughter and his true friendship will forever be missed. After an event we'd always want to click on and read his silly captions underneath the photos that he would post, they were hilliarious. He was such a joy to box with, several times he and Horse Trader would have me running after the box while they "got things set up" on the tailgate... and boy it was such a true treasure to always find one of his carves, along with a special Safari Man pouch.
We will miss you buddy, it is an honor to have called you our friend, someone who was proud of his country, proud of his family and a friend to all. Georgette and family, thank you for sharing a truly remarkable man with us, our sincere condolences, jeeves&dude

My heart is sad this morning. I met Glenn at my very first event so many years ago and he immediately stole my heart. He made me laugh, he gave great hugs, took amazing pictures and slack boxed with the best of them. He will be truly missed by me and so many others. Georgette and the rest of the family will be in my prayers. Becohio aka Becky Reed

I never personally met Safari Man but I really enjoyed finding several of his series in Gatlinburg, TN. He sent me a nice note which I thought was really sweet. Now I want to run out and find as many of his plants as possible.

Something like, "It took me 4 tries to find the dang box, but I finally found it! Yippee!"

I think we've ALL had this particular pleasure! Mine was a store-bought in a very easy hiding spot--and of course it was driving me nuts, since every time I went looking, within 2 weeks someone would log a find. It was taunting me! Boxes like this are frustrating, because you know you're misinterpreting the clues, but it's hard to step out of your own head & get a different perspective.

I feel the same way. I've never found any, and never got to meet him except on the boards. I feel like I've lost something I didn't even have yet.

What a hole he will leave in our hobby!

So very sorry to hear this shocking news. I had no idea Glenn had cancer. He will be deeply missed by so many and his contributions as a Vietnam Veteran and a letterboxer and family man were great. Many extra hugs to his sweetheart, Georgette, his sister OkieDog and entire family.

I'd rather see the bag of doo-doo than the piles that are ignored by people

For me, it depends. In a maintained park, yes--some park worker will pick up the "forgotten" bag. Several miles out into the woods on a hike? I'd rather see the poo--at least it will be broken down quickly. Those bags last forever.

Heaven must have some wonderful places to letterbox. May this new journey be a safe one. Say hi to my Dad. He sounds a lot like you....a true gentleman. I am sure he will be the one to meet you at the Pearly Gates.

To the family left behind. He is now free of any hurts and pains. Always remember the good times and rejoice in them.

Glenn
I remember the very first time I met him. It was like meeting a famous person. I was sooo excited. I could not wait. It was like waiting for a rock show to start. I could not wait for him to get there. When Glenn got there it had so many question about carving. He sat down and talked to me am out all I had to ask. encouraged me to keep trying and not to give up.
The next event came and he was going to be there and I was just as excited to see him again. I had to tell him about the things I have carved and more questions. I thought he would not remember me for sure. But guess what he did. :)
Glenn you are already missed!!!

ok, I see a red hat. Am I remembering correctly, does that mean today is a day that I can list a find on a unlisted box? And if so how?

I have 3 boxes I'd like to add to my find #'s. all 3 were intentionally not listed because they are on Girl Scout property.

RIP Safari Man. Last spring he sent me a tribute stamp which has been pulled for the season. The clue has been updated. Even so, if anyone is out there for ice fishing, ice hiking, snowmobiling or skiing, let me know and it will be available.

We found our first HH at Robinson Memorial Gardens, hidden with Arf...B.C. but the name of the carve seems to be in question and the logbook was a "replacement" book placed by Ladyhawke. The carve seems to be of a tree frog, simple silhouette. Anyone know anything more definitive about this stamp? Thanks for the help....sherercrew

I'm not sure where you saw the red hat but Hat Day is when there are all styles of hats (and only hats) in the banner on the top of the AQ pages. Keep checking!

Many congratulations to 4EyesMcGee and Angel Winks on the Box of the Week award for their Ladies of the 80's series!! Brave New Penguin and I spent our Black Friday finding these boxes and we agree that this honor is well deserved. And thank you to SunFleur and The MI Patriot for hosting the event that has resulted in so many boxes being planted in the MetroParks.

Oh good grief. I am probably going to regret not walking away from the keyboard but... It's time to set the record straight.

I initially received three find reports within a minute (maybe two) of each other. The first reports were "n/a", and the last was "found". I have since exchanged several emails with Frenchie. The first that I wrote in response to these "update reports" were to ask where he was looking and offer help/hints. I was told "no hints".

Yesterday, I received 3 messages via AQMail from him, each more openly than the previous accusing me of changing his logbook. Each of which I replied to, reassuring him that I did not do so. And reassuring him that the box was where it was supposed to be. (to be sure, I even checked on the box last night before dinner)

Now, I see this thread about this whole subject. And, this morning, the claim that:
Both the owner and I have previously communicated via email as the owner wanted to know why I selected N/A when the Lbox is "available" where hidden.

No, I did not say any such thing. As far as I know, "n/a" would be the right thing to chose in this situation, because the box was not found but no signs that it is/was gone were found either. As far as I'm concerned, even a "missing" report would be perfectly acceptable, if that's what the LB-er wants in his logbook for this box.

Could one of the powers-that-be help Frenchie change his find report to whatever will put this whole thing to rest?

After being accused of dishonesty and being talked about behind my back (with misinformation), and after several emails saying basically the same thing, I'm done and need to step away from my email and this thread.
