Why a tracker for a traditional box?

For anything that someone wants to use it for. *shrug*

The story associated with this box is fascinating! I recently read the book about Dr. Snook, and a friend of ours owns the car that the murder took place in. If interested in the story google Dr Snook, it was one of the most notorious murder stories that ever took place in Columbus. Thank you for planting this one!!

Hello giraffeman,

Welcome to letterboxing!!!!

It is nice to consider putting boxes at towers in the area north of Boston. I think there already are letterboxes at some of these towers. Not to say you couldn't put more... :-) You may know this already, but here are boxes at some of the towers you mentioned:

The Two Towers -- Wrights
Middlesex Fells, Medford
http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?gBoxId=29539

The Two Towers -- Bear Hill
Middlesex Fells, Stoneham
http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?gBoxId=29542

The Stone Tower
Lynn
http://www.letterboxing.org/BoxView.php?boxnum=21813&boxname=Stone_Tower_%28replaced%29

And there are a few other towers in the area that already have boxes. ;-)

Glad to see a new boxer in the Boston Metropolitan area. A box at High Tower sounds like a great idea. :-)

For example?

a huge letterboxing event in the Northeast for Christmas that has multiple series with different themes. Each has its own "tracker". Or, another example: the Ship of Fools events had two traditional trackers for stamps, one for ship stamps, one for fools stamps. Easy way to organize donations for large events where you want lots and LOTS of stamps.

That sounds fun! You might be able to get the Corporate Parkway Library (where Inky Readers Incorporate Stamping is) to give you a room for free. Tell them that the planter who planted a box in library said to ask them and that we want to have a letterboxing meeting. (Then add that we'll exchange cookies, in case food is an issue.) If you give me some time (maybe just until tonight), I'll ask my friend who works there who to talk to. I'll see her this afternoon anyway.
That would be a little eastward, I realize, but it's close to YOU and would be a free room.

Or, I forgot that there's a library closer to you that also has a letterbox in it. I think that facility is even bigger.

Speedsquare-

I am from Ohio and every year that I visit, I make a trip to Greenlawn Cemetery. It is easy to get to and once inside, there is some driving from box to box, but it is so nice and peaceful to be away from all of the heavy traffic and road construction.

The only thing I ran into while there a couple weeks ago was tree clean-up from the storm that took out many of the big, old and beautiful trees in the cemetery. The limb shredder trucks were in the cemetery but I zigged while they zagged and it all worked out.

I added all of the boxes missing from my collection to my logbook. There are so many to choose from but a real fun series was the "Angry Bird" series and some really great carves that I enjoyed were the "Do You Wanna...?" series. Hope you add Greenlawn to your list of places to visit :o)

Quick survey:

Click agree
If you exchange images properly when you drop one off so next finder doesn't have to do anything but put it in their bag

Click disagree
If you just drop it off in box and let the next finder deal with it

From my own encounters. People just leave it undone for next person to take care of. I personally leave it ready to be just picked up.

My granson age 14 1/2 has gotten the cooking bug. He and my son are bachelors and my son has always liked to cook. They have a Toaster Oven and I have never used one.

Can anyone share a simple meal that you do for 2 people in one of them?

Yesterday I talked him through a meatloaf with the spices he found in the pantry. Dad raved it was an A+ and he said it was smelling good as it cooked.

Any ideas would be great. When I looked on this board and put in Toaster Oven I got things about Shrinky Dinks! : )

Postal Trackers

Postal trackers generally track the progress of a postal "letterbox" or a postal ring.

LTC Trackers

LTC trackers generally keep track of trades of individual cards, LTC swaps, etc.

What is a Traditional Tracker?

A tracker to organize something that has to do with traditional boxes. It could be trades, swaps, a series that is planted by many people over the country and only related by theme, etc.

There's no set use for trackers -- you use them when you need to keep track of things. The type that you pick depends on what you're keeping track of.

I generally prefer it when a host uses the other tracker for this. I don't like creating fact traditional listings for tracking purposes only. I don't really care what people use "other" box types for. Besides having a fake traditional plant in my log, then you need to remember to delete it when the host is ready to plant, and in some cases you find stamps double-listed with the host's listing and the carver's listing -- and usually you can find that some people log both of them as finds :)

I clicked agree, but it's possible I may have forgotten on occasion. I check when picking them up that they're imprinted in the logbook and the letterbox's stamp is imprinted in the HH logbook. Around here most people remember to do the stamping.

These days I'm not picking them up as much as I used to. Last time I encountered one, I photographed the pages with my iPhone then left the HH in the box. I posted them on my blog (password protected) and gave the owner the URL. So I was lazy about taking the HH - partly because of all the stamping required, partly because I sometimes forget I'm carrying one - but not lazy about recording the logbook pages for the owner.
