Any chance you'll be in the Charlotte area on 6/23?

I have plans with friends that weekend, but would like to see some letterboxing friends in the Western part of the state sometime towards the end of June....

I know you mentioned a trip...when will you be around this summer?

We went out recently to Northeast Park and really enjoyed the boxes out there! I sent Safari Man some notes- some of his boxes did need repair and I replaced baggies until I ran out- so most of them have new baggies now.

Yes...I got the notes as well as I am his contact person for those boxes. I appreciate you looking after them. I checked them all before I left for Denmark, but it seems they needed some help after the winter months. Thank you for doing maintenance.

I have an old college friend that lives in Gibsonville and he is wanting to meet up while I am in NC. Maybe a coffee and a trail or two at Northeast will be perfect. We can visit, hike, and I can do some checking on boxes :o)

In any event, if you make it there before or after I do, thatnks agin for your help.
Turtlelove :o)

My library has the passes. Of course they only have one pass, so you have to book it early. The library in the town I use to live in also offers passes. Check it out, you could save a few bucks. Of course, you have to have a library card.

keep all this other stuff in mind for the future when I find something I really want to carve that's online! :)

I use found images from the internet all the time and still do pencil transfer. First I copy the image and save it on my desktop. Then I import it into a Word file and make it the size I want it. Then I print it out. Then I color on it with a pencil, all the parts I want to keep for the stamp. Then I cut the image out, flip and burnish as usual. set the image with my crayola marker. the marker ink not only keeps the pencil from smearing, it also helps me see where I've carved out, since I use white carving material. Then after the ink dries, I carve.

When you are on the search page look to the Right. The box the word Traditional is a drop down box and you will find HH to be the second or third choice.

we were looking more for a meet and greet meal. If someone would like to join us for a bit of boxing that might be fun too - and there are already 4 of us. Not sure how stealth that can be. . .

My sister and i have been on one boxing run through the area, in '09, on a different Adventures by Disney trip. This was before The Great Disney Debacle so we got a lot of the Disneyland boxes back then, and a lot around Hollywood and Pasedena (not a lot of hiking though - the sister doesn't do hiking). Any recommendations of boxes in Long Beach/Anaheim that are not in the Land of the Sacred Mouse would be fun - we will have a car.

i just like to meet fellow boxers when i travel. Nothing fancy, just a gather at a local burger joint will do.

Yep. Due to the rates, we ended up rescheduling plans for our anniversary trip to Hawaii to Sept. instead of June. After waiting 20yrs, we decided a few more months wouldn't matter to get a lower rate (okay, I decided that -- Papa Wolf wasn't too happy about waiting).

And I'm getting ready to list a small event on 6/23 in the Charlotte area -- I was kind of hoping that would work out for you. Perhaps it still could-- bring those friends! :)

I could sweeten the deal for them -- come into town early and have breakfast at Amelie's! There's even some ties to The Hunger Games if you need to convince the kids. LOL! If that's not enough, the actual meet will be dinner at Brixx pizza (tentatively planned at this point).
I plan on some downtown INDOOR boxing so if the heat is too much now coming from Denmark, there will be that option to get a few that way.

Okay, nothing much seems to be going on around NC for the summer and the chatter is low. But we have friends coming to town and summer is here! So let's get together! It's just a mini meet for dinner, but I do have some interesting new urban boxes I've been working on that will be launched soon.

these are apparently a new product that is being released for caching as opposed to the military boxes. The are also $6 compared to the $2.50 the old decon boxes were a few years ago (and are now around $5 if found). That doesn't make them a lesser product; in fact according to the review they are easier to open and close and are still water tight. The size described seems smaller. I'll have to measure an old one to compare. The new improved mini decon boxes still have hanging capability.

At first i just grabbed one box of 20 and then saw the $1-off sale sticker. I froze like a faint'n goat!... my what a deal. Then i grabbed 2 more boxes. With glee I toss the boxes in my cart thinking of all the plots and schemes i could provide pouches for. Oh glorious will my plant count soar!

There were only two left on the shelf... my craw quivered... and in a moment of greed and visions of grandeur, I stood on tip-toe to reach the prey.... ha ha haa haa! Boc ha bawk bawk!

...oh what could it all mean, you ask? Muhah ahahahahah boc ha bawk bock boc!

I took all that Kroger had of the pint-sized freezer quality... now i strut to WalMart. RRRRReeerr ruuurrrr err errrrr!

Oh, we will meet up, I guarantee you! We will meet up! Let's plan on lunch or breakfast on either the 12th or the 13th. :)

I will get you a list of boxes you have get check out while you're here, especially ones near by to you, and you never know, I may plant a few more before you get here. I have a stack of boxes to plant a mile high.

Well.... last time I served on a Jury, it was pretty bad:

The trial lasted over 2 months -- a murder trial where the victim was stabbed over 100 times. It was pretty gruesome.

On top of that, one of the other jurors had an epileptic fit and landed on top of me!

And, another juror infected us all with swine flu.

That is awful - almost like the jurors were under a different trial themselves!!

I'm glad to see that some of them got returned! One of my boxes "went missing" here in Idaho about a year and a half ago. I'm still trying to decide if I want to re-carve that image.

I've been a registered voter for over 20 years, and have never been called for jury duty. Maybe that's because I'd actually LIKE to do it and wouldn't try to get out of it.

Go figure.

GJ, I am with you - I would love to serve on jury duty, both for the experience and for the sense of civic duty it represents (that differs from paying taxes!). My work pays for attending jury duty as if you are at work, so the loss of wages is not a factor, which is nice. The only problem is I NEVER get asked. My wife and I have been together for nearly twenty years and she has been called probably ten times or more while I never get called - ever. Kind of a bummer!

She again starts jury duty for a week at the end of the month...sigh.

set the image with my crayola marker

I would have my hand covered in ink before I was done carving the stamp. LOL. I have to use the permanent Staz-On ink because it does exactly what it says. Stays on. :)
