Man! The last episode was great! I knew it was only a matter of time until they had a "drinking episode" To be honest I was worried when I heard about it but I think they handled teen drinking in a very realistic way without really glorifying it. And this episode gave hope to Kurt and Blaine!

It think they will make it to Nationals because there is still a good chunk of the season left. Tomorrow's episode will be #15 and last season they have #23 but you never know what kind of twist Sue Sylvester might add! I won't be able to watch tomorrow's episode until it airs on Hulu. Darn you University Union Board meetings.

I couldn't believe how many of the times didn't think of using a computer to find the location of the clue. It seemed like there was an awful lot of random wandering going on.

I do like that this season there have been a couple times already they've had places to find that were not just gimmes. But you're right, a lot of wandering... especially the cowboys, they just kept walking around in a fog not even asking people. I like them a lot, but I have to agree with Ryan that they don't seem like the sharpest crayons in the box (umm, how could they not get that flag thing?) Heck if I was racing for a million bucks and needed to know where something in town was, I'd be finding a computer or asking every single person I ran into until I found somebody who knew!

My siblings don't care at all who see them doing it. I met people in the military who did it too. I'm sure there's a lot of secret thumb-suckers out there. ;)

I did into adulthood. Not sure what changed or even when I stopped. And I have no dental problems due to thumb sucking. Best wishes.

What do your carry in your pack for a MAINTENANCE kit for damaged letterboxes

I know you asked Dizzy, but I'm feeling chatty this morning!

I carry what I consider the basics:

damp paper towels
dry paper towels/napkins
spare baggies--snack and sandwich size
small replacement logbooks
small plastic grocery bag to put the trash in; otherwise it rides in my backpack--ick!

When I am organized, I might have small pieces of cloth to serve as stamp cozies, but usually have to rely on my stash of fast food napkins

May people carry extra double zip baggies, toweling to dry things out, duct tape (mine is usually black or camo), a spare box or spare camo pouches. Tape is handy because you can repair someone's broken box instead of carrying the bulk of a spare, until they can get back to change it out. Same with pouches; lite weight and a good temp fix in an emergency. Sometimes a owner may decide to just leave the pouch there. Double zip baggies (I carry mostly pint size) are the item I use most.

We have a multi-planter series here and all the box names begin with "STLP". However, my search for those no longer works - what's up? If I put STLP in the box name field now, I get nothing. If, however, you do a 5-mile radius search for Bridgeton, you will see about 20 of them.

I don't know why, it probably has something to do with the index and needing the complete first word or something. However, you can get it to work if you add an asterisk (*) after the stlp in the box name field.

Many events have multiple assistants but they just aren't all publicly listed. Sometimes there are a couple planters, someone doing the raffle, someone doing a dinner the night before, someone doing a nightboxing excursion after the main event, etc that are all separate from the main host.

I've co-hosted a number of events and always thought that having multiple people assist in different roles is much easier than one person doing everything. One time I had to run the entire event with only the night before notice with the main host was hospitalized. It's always a good idea to have a back up.

But that's all up to the host.

Aha! I found them. Learned some new things the last couple of days.

No damage for me personally but there were folks in Franklin Co affected, which is west of us. I think I'll put off my Rising Fawn hike one more day to let the canyon dry out a bit...nothing like slippery trails and risking a weak ankle to wreck a person's hike...gotta get that box!

I was over in Indy yesterday and was going to have a interesting time trying to get to my destination - my regular routes were closed due to flooding at critical spots. I passed by the Bicycle Garage Indy on 82/86th and noticed how HIGH the water behind the shops had risen. I can't imagine Artdog's letterbox is still there. And by Holliday Park - the boxes in the lower trails??? Once things dry out, I'll be coming over to hunt all the boxes I haven't found yet, and maybe check on a few of my old favorites. I haven't heard any news-good or bad, with Carousel. I definitely ought to check on that one.

Good to hear you are okay Sarcasmo. We Roosters are fine. Luckily our city had the rain management ditches cleared out in late January, so everything drained nicely. I know some folks in Chatty that were without power for awhile. You be careful out on those muddy trails! Wear kleets.

In my letterboxing bag I have a school box that I got as a freebie at one point. The school box has my maintenance stuff.

Zipper baggies (Target Brand for the double zip) in snack
Ziploc freezer bags in pint size
Zipper jewelry baggies in 3 different sizes
Wet ones
Alcohol swabs
Mini adhesive runner (yep, I've had to re-glue logbook pages for people)
Small zipties
Neoprene gloves
2 extra blank logbooks
Binder rings
A pencil with several rubber bands and a length of duct tape about 10 feet long wrapped around it

Also in the pack but not in the schoolbox:
Outdoor scent free wipes
An old washcloth to wipe things down
A spare Planter's Pouch in case the box is destroyed when I get to it
A small first-aid kit
A small "office supply" box with tiny tape, notepad, stapler, staples, and tiny titanium scissors (from Target scrapbooking section)
LED flashlight
compass
- as well as my normal letterboxing stuff like sig stamps, logbook, ink pads, markers, etc.

I carry on my person:
nice pocket knife with several blades
another compass
bandana

In my trunk, I have a big picnic basket with full boxes of every size baggie in my pack, maps, more notepads, more logbooks, more Planter's Pouches, rain ponchos (one nicer one and several dollar store ponchos), more alcohol swabs, more Wet Ones, a couple more washcloths, a few dollars in cash (because I end up spending it if it's inside my car), spare lock 'n locks, some wal mart sacks for trash.

Sounds like I carry a lot, but my letterboxing bag is a miniature backpack (about 11" tall). I just have it packed pretty well. I also have as much as I can in miniature form.

Another thing to keep in mind.. repairing and maintenance for damaged boxes is fantastic and encouraged but please do NOT change someone's box just because you think it would be better with a different box or a different log book, or whatever. We've had people do that around here.. decide that the box wasn't the right container so they put it in a pouch instead.. when there was nothing wrong with the box.

That's a great question... IN August we have an event that's pretty big. And everyone in Maine says its my event. But I look at it as OUR event. I have LOTS of help with the event. I might make sure thinks get taken care of - but my friends help out even if they are not on the official planning committee.

Even being an event planner - doing large events completely by yourself is crazy. You'd never have any fun. Share the wealth and the praise by letting folks help. Not everyone will want to - and its important to not leave someone stranded that's just a participant at the event... but alittle deligation so you can have a break is always nice.

Most people seemed to have received a knobby ball (or 5!) of various sizes, but there were a few other items reported on The Santa Claw's Facebook page: a tin of pickle-flavored mints, a set of Pepsi lip glosses, a rubber band shooter, a stuffed T-Rex.
