In keeping with my word, i have planted a box for August! I found my first letterbox on August 30th 2009. It was DS's "She". It's a great stamp to get started on. Get the latest LB in Maryville by following the clues to "A Hopeless Romantic's Year".
LTC in more than one tracker?

So I'm working on this LTC for a tracker, then I noticed there's another tracker it would also be perfect for. I have seen LTCs listed in more than one tracker; is this the norm? Should I put my card in both trackers?

My instinct is to make new cards for each tracker, but I'm new at this.

I noticed just recently that in my mailbox, all the times were in Pacific time. It is confusing to me because I live in Eastern time and I have to convert all the times so I knew when I sent or received something. Is there a way I can change this? Thanks.

This is an edit to the original post. I posted it, then found that the time I posted it was also in Pacific time.

Where I come from we Pok a Ka, we wear a Parker in the winter, and drink Ahrange juice at breakfast. We spell it correctly, we jis caint panounce it rightly.

And one more for y'all - Should of, Could of for Should have, Could have. I'm thinking it comes from misunderstanding the contraction Should've, Could've.

I feel much better now, thank you.

I believe it has to do with the setting on your computer--your posts shows as EST to me (6:31 am Sept 1)

I know I have seen this issue come up before--sorry I don't have time to search the boards this morn!

Mine is in Eastern time. Have you checked your actual computer settings?

Mine shows the time on the bottom right of my screen. Click on the time and you can change the settings that way.

That's odd because my computer clock is set to EST. It is right, though.

Regional accents are great, I think it makes the spoken lanuage interesting. I love the Maine and western accents and am sorry that TV has seemed to smooth out our accents. It's incorrect written communication that bothers me. And the FER thing. That's a spoken mistake that drives me nuts.

I'm making note of all these comments! I have to "mentor" a few of my co-workers in better written communication. What's wrong with this picture? I barely got out of high school and took five years to get a two year technical degree. I'm dyslectic, have reading comprehension issues and can't spell without looking in the dictionary every few words. THEY, on the other hand, have four year degrees, one in secondary education. I believe I'm being punished.
A new month, a new hunting season

It was a beautiful -bang!- sunrise this morning, accompanied - bang!- by the sounds of gunshots. Just a friendly reminder that hunting (mourning dove and squirrel) season opened today with the start of the new month. If you're planning on boxing in a hunting-friendly area (like the Delaware Wildlife Area), please be careful! While stealth is important for LBing, being visible is important for your safety!

probably it would be best to make a new card with the same stamp...in case there are some of the same people in both trackers...

there's no problem recycling a stamp.

I made one stamp, used it on two different ltc's, sent it off to another letterboxer for use in a school project, and gave her permission to plant it as a traditional...she used it, along with the others from the school project, to make LTC's for everyone who had donated to the project...and am now it must be planted someplace because I'm getting find reports that tell me the quadratic equation was the last thing they thought they'd find in the woods. It's pretty awesome all the things one little stamp has accomplished.

Thanks for your messages. I've been in contact with a couple of you from Ontario already. I appreciate your help, and I'm looking forward to creating some stamps. I'm enjoying getting out there and finding places to plant boxes as well. I am unfortunately unable to attend the Orangeville event but will try and do my best to get to the next one. Thanks again everyone for your assistance.

In regards to a single postal, I've been reading and researching and I see that people typically do it one of three ways.

Either they mail the postal to the first person on the list, and then have them respond that they received it, then give them the next person's address

OR

They put a list of addresses in the postal envelope and have each person responsible for marking their name off and sending to the next person.

OR

They have each person be responsible for AQ'ng the next person in line for their address.

I haven't yet decided how to proceed with my postal and I am looking for feedback from others.

I would check to see if any of the participants for one swap is also in the other. If not then use the same card for both. If there is anyone in both swaps, AQ mail that person and ask if they mind if you use the same card for both. Maybe offer to send them a "special one-of-a-kind" card to make up for them getting a duplicate. And let them know they can trade the duplicate out if they wish.

Easiest is to put the list of addresses in, then you're done. However this provides no safeguards if people "drop out" of postaling in between when you do the list and when the postal gets to them.

Most common practice these days is to have each person contact the person below them on the list to make sure they are ready, and to make sure they have the most up-to-date address. It takes the surprise out of it for receivers, but provides more safety.

Having the owner provide an address to each responder provides the most owner control, but can get tedious if you have a lot going on.
