WOW.

Everyone who attended...thank you...from the bottom of my heart. To make such an impression on the staff that they would go out of their way to contact us is a tribute to the caliber of people who attended. I am so honored that you all would make time for this event in your lives.

Kent wasn't even the principle contact for me (the camp liason), and I only got to meet him a couple of times in passing. The whole crew who works there has Camp Adams in their blood so to speak, and consider it a personal mission to make sure everyone has a good time. I do belive they got more than they bargained for with this group!

Again...thanks everyone!

After receiving responses, we will be having the mini-golf event. The only change is the time. We will be heading over for 11:00 instead of 10:00. Otherwise, I think we would be alone golfing. And it is much more fun with friends to pick on and BEAT than each other. We will have an event stamp. Then potluck afterwards. For those who don't have our address and haven't been here before, it is 30 Stockman Avenue Saco. We are right around the corner from the mini-golf course. And remember, this is potluck....Please bring something....And we WILL have homemade whoopie pies for dessert and for Gollygee......

I have been at camps there, and brought my students there for an outdoor overnight. They are a quality act, but we never got a thank you letter even though we were good guests. They must have really liked the LBers!

That is seriously cool! I think it speaks volumes about our organizers in particular, and the amazingly wonderful letterboxing community as a whole.

May the next 10 years be even better!

I was very impressed with Camp Adams. And I would love to go back.

I've been to a few camps, as a camper, councellor and even kitchen staff.

The last camp I worked was the type that parents dropped their kids off in their Mercedes,
then they jetted off to Europe for the summer...

...Camp Adams was much nicer.

I really hope to make it back to Oregon someday

By the way, what are those books

http://www.kimharrison.net/ go here and you can read the first couple of pages of the books.

The first book is "Dead Witch Walking". You don't have to read them in order but it's easier tp follow the story line.

Missing Thomas Guide at L&B

Hi all,

I lent out my Thomas Guide (a book of street maps for the greater Portland area) to some out-of-towners for the days before L&B and I was supposed to find it in Morris Hall on Sunday, but I never did =( If anybody remembers seeing it, or picked it up and has it, would you please let me know? It's a 1999 ed., so not exactly super-current, but since I've never lived on this side of town (Gresham), I need all the help I can get.

Thank you!!

That was me to whom you loaned it. I asked sewsobizzy to bring it to the meet when she showed up. As I was leaving on Sunday I saw it in the registration lodge so I know she did. I talked to Marmalade about how to get it back to you (since I know you're also local) but she got distracted with all those folks leaving.

Soooooo. I put it in the lost and found box and wrote your name on the cover. I'm really, really hoping that worked for getting it back to you.

Can you let me know if it does? If not, I'll send you a new one. I really helped us boxing for the day on Thursday after the meet the out of towners mini gathering.

Sorry we didn't quite come full circle for you in all that confusion. I'd completely forgotten about it until leaving and I think by then we'd missed you.

FL...I belive it is in the lost and found box.

The Lost and Found box is in Marmalade's garage in Portland.

Marmalade is undergoing Quad Kitty Snuggle Therapy, with Coastal Sunset Enhancement.

When she her treatment is complete, she will probably post a list of all the goodies in there!

Speaking of lost and found. DMS purchased the UV lights for the night boxing, and I left them for him on the table at the masquerade ball. Unfortunately, by morning all of them were gone and never returned. We have 2 in our possession, which means that somehow 5 walked off. Would you please check your things and make sure you didn't get one of them. If you did, we would love to have them back.

Thank you,
Maiden

Questions about boxes for events
Board: Event News and Planning
Sep 19, 2008 7:06pm
Thread Board (disabled)
Katchick and I are hosting our first even in 2 (eek!) weeks and I was wondering what the best way to list our boxes is. We are planning on making MANY permanent plants in the park we're going to have it in and are probably going to start this weekend. What's the best way to list them: the day after the event with clues, or when we plant them, saying clues will be posted after the event? I don't want people to get upset that we're planting all these boxes they can't get for 2 weeks but I also want the potential attendees to know that we're planting a lot so it will be worth there trip. What's the general consensus on the best way to go about this?

Thanks!

~marabelle

What's the best way to list them:

Since you want folks to check in and will probably be handing out clue sheets then what is the rush to post the clues prior to the event?

You can post them afterwards just as easily as two weeks prior.

You can post them afterwards just as easily as two weeks prior.

If you list them well in advance, wouldn't you run the risk of them being muggled before the event?
If you don't list them prior, and hand out printed clues at the event (letting people know you'll list them _soon_) would that work or doesn't it matter?

There's always the option to list all clues on one external site and publish them only a day or two before the event... Every box planted would have clues that all went to the one linked external site. Looking for ideas too :-) Thanks

Please, please don't worry about it! Marm's got the lost and found box in her garage, and I'll get it from her sometime next week. I'm glad you were able to put it to good use!! As for me, we FINALLY have internet at the house, so I'll just utilize google maps a little more until I have my t-guide back in the car.

So great to meet you! Take care,

Maiden, our group never did get one of those UV light thingies - I hope they all find their way back to you and DMS!
