My friend Cindy can see!
Board: Prayer and Healing

I mentioned that my friend Cindy the doctor was having an operation to restore her eyesight, and I want to thank all of you who kept her in your prayers from the bottom of my heart.

The operation was very successful, and she has 20/40 vision!
She will be able to drive again, which was her dream!

I thank God for giving Cindy this wonderful miracle .

I've been thinking about getting one of those. Instead of vacuum sealing though I've built a dehydrater. I Still need to build the trays (when I get back from LnB).

I used a box known as a wardrobe box from U-Haul. I pushed some wooden dowels through it for the trays to set on and I wired up four light sockets and put 100 watt bulbs in them to get the temp. between 100 and 110 degrees.

I can hardly wait to try it out.

BTW I used the book "Dry It You'll Like It" as a guide.

I have definitely made some new converts lately, but I think most of them are from somewhere else. I'm gettting lots of newbies in St. Charles county too, but tha.t has been the case all along (my motto is "if I plant it, they will come"). Someone just wrote to me this morning about what fun they had on their first box yesterday, and it's not anyone I know (I can tell from the name). There is someone else new right around here that is not rehiding well and one of my boxes went missing (and I found what I think are portions of a hitchhiker on the ground, so I think maybe one of their kids is not being supervised well enough).

MO Judy is from the class at Powder Valley that you and I helped with; she and her granddaughter have found a lot of my boxes out this way. The other trailnames from that class that I know of were Henry the 8th Man, Cruisin Susan, and Turtle Mom. But we forgot to exchange until some had already left, so I didn't get everyone. R and R Seekers are friends of mine that may be getting closer to your boxes.

The names from my kids' class this summer are: Patrick Star, Flicka, Whiskey, Whistler, Foxtooth, and Pokemon Master. They have all found some in the ICCP series and I know the last two are addicted, but they haven't been out that way yet. And their mom told me that her friend recently emailed her to tell her about letterboxing, and that person has found some of mine but I don't know how she heard of it.

I also know of three families who want to get started but have not yet.

There are a number of parties in my county who have done most of my letterboxes out here; maybe they are running out and venturing over there. I could tell you if I recognized their trailnames.

I think that the more we get boxes spread out across the area, the more people will try it because they can look at the list and say "Gee, that one is right by my house!"

If it was my box, I would totally appreciate having the baggies replaced. If there was room, I would want the full logbook left in there, a new one (or some paper or whatever you have) left also, and then a message sent to me to let me know. When I 'box, I like to see the stamps of those who came before me, so this would allow others to do the same. If I want the logbook back, I can post a message with the clues asking the next person to grab it and mail it to me. If the logbook was wet, it would be nice to have it dried out and then replaced (if time allows, which is rare) or maybe replaced with a new one and then take it home and dry it out, then mail to me.

I had one soaked book near where I live, so I just went there with a hairdryer, a new book, scissors and glue and dried out the pages and cut/pasted them into the first pages of the new book.

I do the same thing KUJ. I always laugh at SM's captions. It's like he is talking to himself, and we are evesdropping.

SM, you will be missed at the SOHT. Tell Horse Trader to come on up and hang out with us at the SOHT. I'm sure we can get him a ride, if he needs one.

Sounds like a great time, Boney. I wanted to stay and camp. maybe next time, but with 7 dogs here...yes, if I didn't tell you I've been dogsitting for about 2 weeks now and another week and a half to go. Me and the vacuum cleaner has become the best friends. *My daughter and her friend went to visit the AF daughter in Germany. They are traveling to all the neat places (Paris, Amsterdam, Venice, Luxembourg and all the wonderful countryside) and I'm sitting here cleaning up poo and being yelled at by treat hungry beasts. "Hey, look at me I sniffed his butt. GIVE ME A TREAT." I do have to say They are the cutest things when they are asleep.

So about two years ago I joined AQ after reading about letterboxing in Family Fun Magazine, but I didn't actually find my first box until a year ago today :) So Happy Cake Day to me, even though I don't have a cake on AQ that no one can see;)

I normally wouldn't have noticed, but last night I took my step-children to get the very first box I ever got. My five year old wanted the stamp in her book too, but I when I showed her that she already had that stamp I noticed that we got it Sep 1st last year. Talk about full circle :)

It's been a great year, I haven't found as many boxes as I would have liked, but I have a feeling I will always have that feeling...LOL. But I have found more great friends than I could ever have imagined. Thank you all for making this last year a great one!

Well we are finally putting our plans together for our annual pilgrimage to Pulaski. We will be there from October 18 (evening) through October 21 (evening).

The plan is to box and fish. Fishing only on the 21st and boxing all the other days. A person has to have their priorities.

Our question is: "Does anyone have suggestions for boxes to help us concentrate our efforts? and... Is anyone up for an exchange?"

i just wanted to post what i great time i had! i always love boxin with my buddy SC,shes also the best driver! ehhee
thanks to dina for hostin the event & i hope the birthday boxers had a great day
i had fun sat boxin with daddy(errr freebird), tater & soarin eagle(what a good boy )
& with oceanwinds, oak, ken & gudcupofjava
we boxed all over that rankin park, & in the end we were worried that freebird had some "dates" waitin for him there :P
later we(me & SC) boxed with 4gc, turtlelove, her son(i always mix up their names) & airstream dreams
they are a HOOT! we laughed so hard at 4gc & her crazy dancin
we boxed til 1230am then had to drive to matthews to spend the nite at the wolf den
sun we woke up to find that papa wolf VOLUNTEERED to cook us breakfast! what a treat! & he had made dinner the nite before, but we got in too late to eat it, so he packed it up for us & sent it with
SC & i headed to latta to meet turtlelove, her son & airstream dreams
we beat them there, so we started boxin, the humidity was really bad & we were strikin out on finds,
& to top it all off, i got bit by something in a very tender area & it hurt really bad for at least an hr!!!
we finally meet up with them & find a few boxes, get frustrated over what we can't & finally decide to call it a day & drive home.
it was a great weekend, i made 800 finds & SC hit her goal too(can't remember what it was, hehehe)
thanks again everyone!

The only"free" music I've ever gotten was from eMusic.com. They have a one time introductory deal where you can get 25 or 50 free songs then you can drop out without any further obligation. (No big, popular hits though...obscure bands and live performances for the most part). There are places where you can download music but they are notorius for virus' and spyware...not to mention they aren't exactly legal. I'd just download from your cd collection and pay the .99 per song at ITunes.
