I have a Canon EOS Rebel circa 1993, including a 300-zoom lens and some filters. I love it too, but since I bought my first digital, Nikon Coolpix 3200, I haven't used the Canon. It is a monster to travel with, but I can't part with it.

Oh, and I have an old Besler-Topcon 35mm camera that my dad gave me years ago. I might put that one on ebay. Works, but who needs 3 cameras?

I have a Canon EOS-II (I think that's what it's called) and eagerly await the day I can get a digital Canon and still make use of all those lenses etc. I love it but I can't stand dragging around all that stuff only to have to wait to get the film developed. I'm just too impatient.

So meanwhile I have a little Vivtar ViviCam that works decent but seems to be showing some age - about 1 in 10-15 shots somehow corrupts before I can get them out of the camera. And I hate that whole "digital delay" - say cheese -- wait -- wait -- wait -- there it is!

just too impatient in general for the technology I guess!

Quote My favorites are actually the cross sums--which also picked up some bizarre Japanese name overseas then returned to the states with the new name, which I can't think of off the top of my head.

Kakuro

which is what we're addicted to around here. . .

I haven't tried the Math Puzzles, but I do enjoy doing Logic Problems. Could pass on Sudoku though. Another letterboxer has clues for a box set up in the form of a Logic Problem (SpringChick, I think).

Quote I'm pretty happy with most of the teams that came in the front of the pack, though. =) Lots of likeable people. My favorites are the hippies, though. They are hilarious! The Double D joke killed me. =)

I loved the hippies! Thought they were hilarious, and not bad racers. Am afraid I'm not going to like the Mississippi Marrieds--Lake & Michelle--but if he calms down it'll probably be fine. Overall, I thought it was a good cast that is going to be enjoyable to watch, no overtly stunt casting. It IS nice to have so many apparently likeable groupings.

Too many teams now to really have an opinion of each, although Asterix and I turned to each other when Barbie (Monica of MOJO) was freaking out a little over something minor and said, "Just wait until they get to India."

Was impressed with the way Yolanda kept focused putting together that motorbike with all those men leering at her. I do not think that would have been easy.

Fun stuff!

Yes, I think some of hers are immensely fun to read. I always loved the logic problems. Here is a good site that always has at least one logic puzzle. You should also take the time to explore other puzzles on the site--there are lots of fun time-wasters.

http://www.puzzles.com/Projects/LogicProblems.html

I have two mystery boxes planned. One I don't want to give away. But for the other, I am going to use one of those linguistic logic problems that you always see in Games Magazine. You know, where you have to figure out the grammar and then what the individual words mean and then apply that knowledge to actually solve the clues. Figuring out how to make the clues work right has been tough--but I'm still working on it when I have the opportunity. Look for Alien Logic in the next few weeks.

I like the hippie guys too. They are having such a great time. Taking everything in sride. I have to admit, I like the nerdy couple too. They really were supportive of each other. But I don't see them lasting too long.
But, we shall see.

I've carved stamps using that Idea and I've also mixed it up a bit and carved part as a reverse silhouette to get some depth, but that's another chapter.

On the topic of soduko and other logic puzzles, anyone do Paint by Numbers? Not the ones where you actually use paint, but the logic puzzles which yield a picture if solved correctly.

I'm a Games Magazine junkie.

When you complete the puzzle you get a photo as a reward. The photos are pretty amateur but it's fun to get a surprise at the end.

My favorite place to buy supplies is the UW Bookstore on 15th Ave and 43rd St in Seattle. They have lots of different tools (including Speedball and various tips), and several different kinds of carving media (including MasterCarve, my personal favorite, in many different shapes and sizes). They also have a ZILLION different sizes and shapes of little notebooks, many which are quite reasonably priced. You can park for free in their lot right behind the store if you get your parking validated inside (up to 2 hrs). It's not very close to my house, but it's pretty easy to get to if you go on the weekends.

Yup, a couple of them using logic puzzles:

Summer Vacation Mystery
The Case of the Missing Salmon

I have a new box waiting to be planted using Sudoku Puzzle as part of the clues, but will probably wait for the snow to disappear before putting it out.

Fun Stuff!

You should probably wait until fall when I will have more than two boxes hidden! Out here in the tundra there's not so much hiding that happens in winter, unless you're the intrepid Lock Wench.

Yeh, I really liked the hippies too. I also like the mom and daughter team. Too early to actually choose a favorite yet though. Great start to the season, especially after the family season... man I hope they don't do that again.

A fun and challenging game I like to play every day is Set!

http://setgame.com/set/index.html

It's won awards from MENSA and Games Magazine. You get an arrangement of 12 cards and you find sets of 3. All the rules are on the site. They also offer a daily puzzle. Have fun!

That's my favorite game!!!!!!!!! Oh, I love it! I take it just about everywhere I go. Keeps all the kids in the family occupied during holiday get-togethers too. I made a SET letterbox for the last WNY gathering since the theme was "Just Playin' Around".

So few people have heard of this game. Perhaps I should start a SET contest at the next gathering I go to....hmmm.....

Wow, you're a lot nicer about them then I was. Absolutely hate them with a passion. The way he speaks to his wife (or was that minion?) was despicable and the way she took it was disgusting. I can't wait until they're out.

I think the nerds are my favorites. They could so be letterboxers.

This is from Entertainment Weekly's recap:

Quote Fran and Barry As usual, they're the sweet, loving older couple who you want to root for but who make it very hard to do so. We know, we know: You're more experienced, you've traveled extensively, you'll surprise the young 'uns, and yet you never do, do you, my AARP friends? A half hour spent walking past a route marker and never seeing it? And even more time spent staring forlornly at a spark plug, willing it to say, ''Hi, Grandma! I go in the motor!'' After they miraculously scrambled to eighth place, Barry said that their forte is mental ability, but it let them down. Wow, that was their forte? What's their Achilles heel, breathing?

Mean, but funny. The rest is here:
