I heard on the radio just now that supposedly Facebook is back.

Well, you know what they say. Good news never lasts forever!

that was so cool to see the actual box!

is that like the most desired stamp a letterboxer would want in their logboook?

The stamp itself, not anything I even specifically remember. The IDEA of the box, absolutely. That is "ground zero" so almost like a pilgrimage to Mecca for letterboxers.

Oh....I just refreshed the page twice and got rid of the ad.

I've been down the YouTube rabbit hole. I can't find that old discussion on AQ where shopping on Temu came up but I saw this. I was streaming on Roku so could skip the ad but it looks like you can't do that just on the web site.

But if you can stream it or have the patience to sit through the ad (I admit I would not) I thought it was kind of interesting.

They ordered a bunch of stuff from Temu and then went through all of it. Kind of funny. The girl just likes every thing. lol But it all smells like chemicals. Hummmm.

Kinda looks like a bunch of cheap-o plastic garbage. lol If you do a search on YouTube a bunch of Temu stuff comes up. lol

What is everyone doing to plan for the viewing of the eclipse?
I planned for this eclipse many months ago. Reserved a room in a hotel, had my travel partners, bought the glasses, all the things.

Now everyone has backed out and it looks like I'm going solo.

I'm not going far but I will be in the path of totality I'm so excited... but also disappointed not to share the experience with anyone.
I also dislike joining events or groups alone. so not sure how this trip go but it will be so cool to see again.

I took a solo road trip from NY to CA in the fall - partially on RT 66, grand canyon, Joshua tree etc... I quiet enjoyed traveling by myself. Oddly enough there was a solar eclipse viewing the the SW around that time so there was one night I had to sleep in my car. Also while letterboxing I accidentally picked up bighorn sheep poop! thinking it was a rock (I'm from NY what do I know?) - a dude tried to pick me up in a bar in Amarillo TX ... HA a lot of good times. So enjoy yourself stay in the moment and have a good time. I am taking myself and BMO up to Rochester NY to enjoy the full totality ... the thruway might be crazy tomorrow or not... Rochester doesn't have a single hotel room left so I know its going to be people everywhere - but I go with the flow. I am sure you will have an amazing trip!

If you are in the path of totality and also in a populated area you will not be alone. I am quite shy socially but events such as this make it much easier to make new friends. Strangers are just friends you have not yet met :) I hope you end up somewhere with clear skies and friendly strangers!

We are heading to northern Vermont or New Hampshire to be in the path. Not sure yet of the exact location as weather forecast will decide our final destination. In January I started looking for a hotel somewhere in the path but was amazed to see that Red Roof Inn (or similar) was asking $1,400.00 per night! No thanks. We decided to stay somewhere 2 hours south and pay normal rates. Which actually worked out well, as we can now choose an exact destination for eclipse day depending on weather.

One of the small towns which might be our destination has posted a notice on their website warning residents to stock up on medications, groceries, and gasoline as access to these necessities may be impossible on eclipse day. Wow! I guess we should expect significant traffic congestion and general chaos. So our goal is to simply find somewhere with clear skies and hopefully a porta potty nearby!

I’m in the eclipse area in Texas, northwest of the Austin area. My specific location is to have 3 minutes 15 seconds of total blackout. Mother Nature is toying with us with light clouds then storms later in the day. It’ll be close timewise. We will see. With friends driving over from Houston I’m hoping for good luck. It has been fun seeing all the finds on my boxes from those who have traveled for the solar event.
Happy trails

My brother #4 lives west of Dallas. He says there is terrible traffic, shortages of gas & food too. He says the forecast is for a cloudy sky…. Yikes!

I have a friend in Southern Illinois that I saw this weekend. In her town, along the eclipse route, a family rented their 4 bedroom home for $10,000!!!

I was able to view an eclipse in October ‘23 in Colorado. For this current eclipse, we will not see a total eclipse west of Chicago… but no bad traffic, etc!

my daughter flew into Dallas on Wednesday and was picked up by friends in Plano. Today, they headed out driving north into Oklahoma, and then ended up going west to Hot Springs, Arkansas. They were able to see the totality without clouds. They traveled two lane roads to avoid traffic. She is flying home in a couple of days.

We watched it in our backyard and saw very close to totality. Close enough for me.

I traveled to my camp in Pittsburg, NH with my youngest daughter, her husband, Camden and Keegan, my two grandchildren.
We spent the weekend there enjoying each others company, eating homecooked food, and campfires in the evening.
We went moosin' but none were around but the deer were all over the place.
Monday we were prepared for the Eclipse, glasses and all. We chose to drive to the end of my road to watch it so we could 'tailgate'. Otherwise we could have sat at camp and looked through the trees.
We returned home today, took many back roads to avoid all the traffic and the weather is 61 degrees here. At camp it was in the low 20's at night..........middle 30's during the day.

in Pittsburg, NH

Oh hello there!

Just stopping by to say thank you for all the amazing boxes you planted in Pittsburg!

No Lone Wolf’s parents lived in Pittsburg and we enjoyed finding your boxes so much. We lost both of my in laws during the Pandemic and we had to sell the house up there and also retire our Pittsburg box, Two Moons.

We replanted it down here in RI lakeside but nothing like the Connecticut Lakes you have up there.

Hi Warrior Woman,

Thank you for the compliment on my boxes. I have planted a couple more and recently planted one to honor Minik Wallace (Mene), the Inuit Eskimo who is buried in the Indian Stream Cemetery.

I am so sorry that both parents are deceased and worse than during the pandemic.

I do remember finding your letterbox as I knew the exact location. Pittsburg is growing by leaps and bounds. Land is being sold and camps are going up and being rented out.

Where did No Lone Wolf's parent live in Pittsburg?

Treats and Treasure's was sold again and the couple were super nice. Unfortunately after they updated the store and got it looking really nice, they were forced to close this past month due to, mainly, lack of snow and customers. They had a new iron sign placed out front honoring Treats and Treasures that had the new name of 1st. Connecticut Lakes. This new name was from the previous owner who changed the name. He was not a well like man to the locals either. You know 'tit for tat'.

I am glad you replanted Two Moons. I would up adopting one hidden at 1st Ct. Lake in the woods. I don't remember the name right now but it was behind a rock up the hill. I checked on it and it was moldy, etc. The stamp was great but the logbook was unusable. I attempted to locate either owner with no luck so I stated I would adopt it. Then posted that I was the new owner.

Because of the storms up there, some of the clues had to be re-worked and I replaced the logbook. I have dried out the logbook so it has been fun seeing who had logged in.

Also several folks have ceased using logbooks because they don't last long. The Clue Crew, my buddy Lori, had started the guard rail magnet carves.

Lori planted a couple special 'finds'. When I went to retrieve them, one of the magnet carves was removed from the magnet and a plastic 'chatchkee' replaced it. Yup! A geocacher took it. Lori contacted the person and politely asked her to replace the carve. She received no answer. So now I am on the lookout for more carves to disappear! Hopefully there won't be anymore at least in my area.

Several folks are just planting carves.

So nice to know you are well and continuing to letterbox.

On Mitchell Road, the road sign said ‘PeaceMaker’ (my Cree FIL) with a Cree warrior affixed to the front door (now affixed to our shed in RI), a GIANT tee pee in the back yard with two moons on it (my Cherokee MIL). You had to drive past it to find Two Moons (which is the place we’d bring our dogs for a bath 😂). Has since been sold but I learned how to throw a tomahawk and shoot a rifle in that back yard.

Since Florida was not really participating in the eclipse, I had a pair of shades from the last one that went through here and popped in and out of my office to check it out. I feel like I got much more than the 30% I think we were supposed to have.
Supposedly astrologically Libras are supposed to be super effected by the eclipse. We shall see. lolz
