I've got glasses for the missus and myself and our spot is all stacked out in the Texas Hill Country for the main event in April. Glad we had a practice run back in October, I had to did out the glasses that we first got for the partial eclipse back in 2017.

Hi all,
Not sure what board to post this on but I wanted to let folks know that I've closed my Etsy shop since I haven't actually used it in years. I am still making and selling logbooks here and there. If anyone is interested in purchasing logbooks, you can email me at gargoylelogbooks@gmail.com

Happy Boxing!

My favorite logbooks! - no bleed through and clean stamp images.

I'm so glad you are going to keep offering them!

Well... I've finally done it (I think.)

This evening, I was grilling kebabs and while they rested on the grill, I was carving a stamp on the side. My goofy self accidentally picked up one of the grill tools on the wrong/hot end rather than the carving gouge I thought I was reaching for. After a quick visit to urgent care, my bandaged hand looks like an aliens, and I have three second-degree burns.

Turns out stamp carving and grilling don't go together.

Though I was not on a trail, I think this qualifies as being injured in the line of letterboxing. Does anyone have an extra of these patches lying around that I could buy off of them?

Letterboxing is a process and carving a stamp is definitely part of the process, not just being out on the trail!! I would gift you a patch if I had an extra! Heal fast 😕

Many of us have injured ourselves while carving. Hey, these tools are supposed to cut stuff! But I think you took it to a new level by burning your hand like that. I hope you heal up quickly.

Oh, Dear! Yes, you earned the Injured in the Line of Letterboxing patch, I think. Bungalow Boxer was looking into them a little while back.

Oh, no! You definitely deserve a patch --

Is it bad that I thought "how will she carve for awhile?" instead of "did she get to eat dinner before the ER?" 😂

I will need a patch also. While letterboxing, I was attempting to get the box and my foot hit some sand, then gravel and finally some rocks.................down I went.
I dislocated my shoulder and broke my humus bone in the process and was unable to get the letterbox. I had to pick myself us and drive to the nearest Urgent Care that was well over a mile away.
I am 80 years old so the healing process and PT have been a challenge. I am now almost to full capacity with the arm.
It will be back to letterboxing when the weather gets better.

We were hurt in a totally different way. My boxing partner, Felixpezgirl and I were hiking in the woods when we got lost. Well the fire department and EMTs found us. While we were being transported to our car in an ambulance, the EMT asked if we were hurt. I answered only our egos.

LOL! I'm glad we have our priorities straight. 🤣

It seems for the next 2-3 weeks I will not be carving, but instead will have extra time for finding. We can call it making the best of a bad situation.

And, yes, I did got to eat dinner first. I took it to go. :D

Where were you?......how lost were you??..... and how did you get that lost????

Give!

The most lost I've been was the time I went up a hill to a back yard and asked for a ride back to my car because I could NOT face the walk I knew I had because I went the wrong way back there.

We need to know!!!

We were in Paxton, Mass. The trail wasn’t marked very good on the way in. However on the way out we didn’t see any markings. We walked in so many directions and couldn’t find the correct trail.
The firemen found us by following our shouting at them. They bushwhacked their way to us.

Where were you?......how lost were you??..... and how did you get that lost????

There is a Silver Eagle box on top of Mt Lakeway, a large hill surrounded by woods and crossed by a power line and mountain bike trail that winds up and over the hill. It is a good mile and a half to two miles from the nearest road. The first person to find the box, Blooming Grandma Jo, told me afterwards that she got confused by the winding trail and walked down the wrong side of the hill. She didn't realize her mistake until she got to an unfamiliar road crossing a couple miles from her car. she called her husband to come and find her and get her back to her car.

Do you really have to ask?
The kind that will become a letterboxing cautionary tale.
The kind that will live in the minds of all involved including Ppg and the ambulance crew.

I was lucky the people at that house were home. They were even out in the yard. I’m pretty sure an old lady coming up out of the woods was the last thing they expected to see. I was in Connecticut and cell phone service can be sketchy in those wooded areas. I guess I might have had to take that long walk back to where I took the wrong trail. And it was not an easy trail.

Last call for Eclipse Glasses!

It's that time of year again.... a total solar eclipse will be passing through North America in a couple of weeks and if you want to watch the build-up (and post-totality), you'll need a safe way to view the eclipse. The entire contiguous United States will at least see a partial eclipse, which also requires a safe way to view the eclipse. So if you haven't acquired your eclipse glasses, now's the time to do it!

To make sure everyone gets their orders in time for the eclipse, I'll be taking the eclipse glasses out of the AQ Marketplace in about a week so this is your last chance! If you do order them, I'd highly recommend paying electronically at this point since they won't be shipped until payment is received, and if your check gets lost in the mail, you may not end up with eclipse glasses at all. Although technically, as long as the payment arrives before March 28th or so, we'll still send them.

Happy eclipse watching, everyone!

Ijust completed my purchase and had no problem.
Onthe final page, there is a box to the right that gives the address for check or the option to use PayPal. Just click on the logo if you see it. (I know, stating the obvious most likely)
