Thank you for the map! That saves me the time to search for it. <grin> It will possibly be March 21st when I will get to Crown Hill give or take a day.

I'd also love to know when you'll be at Crown Hill. I probably won't be able to get off work, but there's a chance I could also drive up.

Just a quick comment. There is a very distinct tree in Sec. 225 (near the Pioneer Cemetery) that has been host to a number of boxes in the past (which never seem to last long). The last box I found there was a bit out of my reach so I had to climb the tree. I found it! So a small stool might be something to consider if you aren't ready to climb trees.

It will be a day in the range of March 21st to 23rd. Does a weekday work for you? If so, I can add you to my list of people to contact when I have firmed up my plans. 🙂

we live in WA. My dad was a HOOSIER. Crown Hill Cemetery sounds like the perfect end to a long road trip! LOL Would we really drive all the way from WA to Indiana to box in a cemetery?!? Seriously thinking about it....
So..... if you really are serious about sharing your "current work" we'd love to have it to study. Frankly, we don't even know what a csv report is....
Willing to share my current work with anyone else interested.

I'd be glad to send you my work. I opened the .csv file in Numbers (mac) but I can export it to and Excel spreadsheet. Just private mail me your email addy and I'll send it.
Interestingly, we have been wanting to take a road trip to the PNW. Looking like we will fly. Maybe this summer.
Added: If you take a look at one of your favorite searches, there are 3 icons to the right of the search. One of them is *csv - if you click on the icon your search will download to a spreadsheet that you can use.

Hi, All! I am planning a trip in mid-March to go letterboxing.
I plan to arrive in Evansville Sunday evening, March 12th, and be there for a couple of days.
Then I will be heading to Illinois for a couple of days, and after that will be Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis the following Sunday.
Is there anybody (non-smoking) in or near Evansville or Indianapolis who might have a guest bed and give me a place to lay my head at night during my letterboxing journey? If I can save money on a hotel here or there, that would be a bonus. 😃

Another option - If you're taking your camper van, you could join Harvest Host and then stay free at several locations in that area and Shower at truck stops.

LB First Aid Assistance Needed in Crown Hill ASAP!

Hello, long lost friends! It's been quite a long time since I've posted here. Life has a way of derailing the fun, ya know?
I'm seeking urgent help today with my most loved carve/plant. It is (hopefully still) in Crown Hill: Eastman's Angel (carved under my former trail name, JBBK). I was living in CNY at the time our friends, The Boston Terrorists, needed monuments carved for their event there. I carved it, they adopted it and planted it, until my return. I just received this notice from a finder:
"This is such a beautiful carve! It is sitting exposed at the base of a Beech tree - in your camp bag. A worker came when I was looking for twigs, so that did not happen!"
I don't know if it is still there, still exposed, or if it is now history. I'm asking any boxers nearby who may be planning to make a trip to Crown Hill in the next day or two...Can you please check to see if Eastman's Angel is safe?
I'm bound to my local area at the moment taking care of my ailing parents in 2 separate households. My dad has just begun home hospice after battling metastatic colo-rectal cancer. (Get screened!)
Many thanks to those who've taken the time to read this and many more to the kind soul who may check on my angel.

Let me know if you need help after this week. I can't get away for a bit, but I do plan to visit my folks at Crown Hill sometime before August.

Are there any new events in Indiana, planned for 2024? I moved to Kokomo, Indiana about 2 years ago from Washington State. My wife and I have a couple of friends in Lafayette and Jeffersonville. I had hoped in attending a couple of events several months ago, but something came up (family). I haven't done any boxing since I've been here. I'm still learning the lay of the land. Big difference than WA State. If your wondering why I moved from there to here, pm me. I really want to plant some new box's in the area. Now if I can just find where I hid all my tools....
Still trying to find all my carving stuff and tools since I moved. ugggh, unpacking.

Did you click on People on the home page and then click on Events? If it’s been officially planned and listed with the date it will be there.

There were several Indiana events this year and we were fortunate to be able to attend two of them. I'm not sure how far you are comfortable traveling but the Midwest offers many events throughout the year. Michigan will have an event in February and there is usually a fall gathering in West Michigan. Ohio often has several events each year. Illinois (TeachJR) often hosts events near Champaign IL (LTC event next month). Great Lakes Gathering is a regional event but it's location hasn't been selected yet. I hope we will have a chance to meet at one of the events.
p.s. Look into playing Letterboxing Bingo. You make your own card and submit it to Dawnkey prior to January 1. Then she (and selected others) will call one bingo word per day. Dawnkey has more information but you can go here to make your card: https://michfun.com/bingo/

Zoom Flume near Bloomington

Hi Indiana!
I was scrolling through reels on IG and I stopped at a post on a place called Zoom Flume. It’s an old abandoned cement water slide 10ish Southeast from Bloomington. Seems like a neat place for a box but I couldn’t find any. Any reason that you know of why not? Did any of you go there back in it’s hay day?

Never knew about this spot in Indiana and DH went to IU during its heyday. I did however ride down one around Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, TN about the same time. It was not so much fun. The raft got away from me and I went down the cement flume on my belly and it tore up my swimsuit and I had bad scrapes and bruises.
Plant it and we will come!

my cousin is coming to visit (Memphis) in June. looking for a fun adventure. can anyone suggest Indiana locations? (think Indianapolis is farther north than we would be willing to drive. unless you said some fantastic!)
looking for something like our Stone Mountain park trip a few years ago. had tons of LBs and lots of other fun things to do. we like a little of everything. hiking, museums & attractions (we drove into Atlanta for a day) zip lines, tubing... so really indoor and outdoor. thanks!
