Looks like it may be a Hitchhiking letterbox. This is one that travels from inside one letterbox to the inside of another. Unless someone else found better information (bonus box etc)

We live in Michigan,and think a Elvis hitch hiker would be Awesome! ...Try to keep it in the letter boxing System!. Thanks!
