Should we make them go dark till we can get them registered correctly, or leave them as-is till closer to that time for anyone who might already be planning to hunt them?

I'd fix the listing on Atlas Quest ASAP. Once people start recording finds, it's a whole lot messier trying to fix listings! The numbers in the logbooks can be fixed whenever....

Thanks for all the help, folks--especially green tortuga for straightening us out and paper trail for updating our box numbers! We've grouped them all under Box #296100 (the original 3rd in the series, but with the easiest box number) and wiped out the original listings of the others since no one had found them yet!

HI--Brand spanking new to letterboxing. As in yesterday was our VERY first day out. What a blast! Had several questions I was going to ask on a new thread on this newbie board but since Ryan has partially answered one above by saying that each boxer gets credit for a plant they did together, I wanted to ask the other half of the question. If three of us are LBing together (started this with my daughter and her bestie) do each of us get to record each find we discover together along with our own comments? Including hitchhikers etc? And when you letterbox together is the courteous etiquette to put all of your signature stamps squeezed onto the one page? We assumed that's the best way to do it and since the HH log books are tiny we were choosing one stamp and just signing 3 trail names. Is that the best protocol? Thanks, Karen

Yes, each finder gets to record each find along with individual comments (or not.) Some people letterbox so much that they have a group signature stamp and individual signature stamps (large and tiny), and use them as circumstances dictate. Our group will have one person claim the hitchhiker for one box, take it to the next box on the route and sign it in, then pass it to the next person in the group who will do the same thing until everyone's done the hitchhiker. You certainly don't have to do it like we do, but we enjoy playing that way. Sometimes we'll squeeze everyone on one page but if it's a rarely found box with a big logbook, we'll each do our own.

Glad you've joined the fun.

The community stamp is a great idea, although our little starter group will break up when this week's vacation is over and my daughter's friend flies back to Michigan to bring this whole new adventure of letterboxing to her friends and family there. We had two finds yesterday, both with hitchhikers (which I thought must be highly unlikely!) so we are bringing one HH to our hometown and she is bringing the other HH to Michigan. The girls will have yet another connection to solidify their friendship over the miles! Thanks for the quick response!

Welcome to the group! We have only been doing this for a little over a year. This is a good question (as we box with friends often). We (family friend group & our family) each have a family stamp & a personal stamp. When we go with at least 1 other family member we use family stamp. Otherwise, I stamp with my personal stamp. We also use a group stamp when going with our scout group. I do like the idea of a miniature personal / family stamp. Congrats on the HH. Our 2nd box had a HH & we were so new that I had to look up what it was & what to do with it!😂 Have fun & Box on!

Sounds like a second stamp, even for the two of us, is a great idea. So enjoying the chance to immerse ourselves in an activity that covers so many bases and gets us out in nature! It will be fun coming up with a trail name for the two of us.

So glad to have a resource like this where you can ask questions and feel so welcomed.

Each person can log a find and comments IF each person has their own AQ trail name.
