I've used a different stitch that I can't currently find on YouTube. However, after seeing this video I may change to Coptic stitch.

For those making logbooks, what paper do you use? I've used regular copy paper, but want to make a nice one for the live and breathe event.

Thanks!

I like Strathmore's Mixed Media 300 Series 5.5 in by 8.5 inches.

I've tried a number of logbooks. I like this one because it is a good size to fit in my back pack, the paper is smooth and is a heavy enough weight I can stamp on both sides. 40 sheets seem to be a good number for me. It is spiral bound so it opens flat and also I can spin the front pages all the way around to stay open to the page I am working on. I like that it doesn't have easy tear perferations like some art books have.

I buy it at Michael's with a coupon, but even full price, $10 is not unreasonable. I see it is available at Dick Blick for $6.28.

Good luck with your hunt, Dawgdok!

Good white card stock is good for logbook pages. Packets at Michael's are often on sale.

I use white card stock from Walmart. They have MUCH better prices on card stock and paper than the office supply stores

My kids, grandkids and I use index cards. I make covers with patterned paper (something related to their trailname) and cereal box-type chipboard. I cut it a bit bigger than the index cards (I use the unlined large ones) and then I use mod podge to glue paper to both sides of the chipboard or cereal box. I let it dry between wax paper with some heavy books on it for 2-3 days. Then trim it up, sand all the edges, and ink it a bit. Then I punch two holes along the wider edge of the covers and cards and use big round clips in it. The cool part, is it folds all the way back to stamp on. And if someone forgets their book, then we can stamp two pages of the same and then transfer those pages to their own book. I keep them in freezer ziplocks, so they are well protected.

I like the Moleskine sketchbooks. The paper is nice and thick, so the ink doesn't bleed through when I stamp on both sides of the page. I also like the pocket in the back for the occasional mementos that I collect along the way.

We will have a logbook workstation at the event! I’m bringing a full sized wire binding machine, and we will have supplies to make a 5.5 x 8.5 logbook with white cardstock and heavy chipboard for the covers.

What kind? If it's an Akiles, I can furnish you with a bunch of plastic coils, probably all you will need.

It uses the twin loop metal coils with 2:1 pitch. I don’t know if it is compatible with plastic coils...

I am going to optimistically (or delusionally) assume I will back in my Harvey Hovel by then and can bring my bind-it-all.

I have really never been happy with any store bought journal, so I bind my own. I use this paper because it takes ink pretty well, and is super smooth.
