Generally people will get a patch if they have boxed in that particular locale, but there are no Letterboxing Police to prevent you from getting all of the patches you want.

How often are the patches given out at events?

I've never been to an event where they gave out patches.

The Live and Breathe events have included patches, but this is paid for in the registration fees.

Now I need to go to NYC so I can get a patch :-)
