There is no such thing as failure at an event

As an event organizer, I am experiencing some real trepidation about my second annual Egg Hunt Event in April given what has been posted on the boards lately :-(

1 - I have been receiving donated stamps in mailing packages - and after reading a LONG thread in here about instructions on how to open these carefully prepared packages, how to remove affixed stamps, how to affix address labels, return address labels, and postage stamps .... yikes! I never thought I'd be tense about receiving mail!

2 - For last year's event, I had a ballpark number of 50 stamps I wanted to offer to make it 'worthwhile' for folks to show up. The event was held over two days, so every stamp was definitely findable. This year I am offering an 'event within an event'. There will still be ~ 50 stamps hidden outside, but there will be a very special music-related series hidden inside that has more than 100 stamps. Given the length of THIS thread on the 'proper' number of stamps at events, and how they should be hidden ..... and now I anticipate flak no matter what I do!

3 - Looking back over the years, I remember the FIRST event I ever hosted which was in February 2003 and there was only ONE box at the event, it was held outdoors, there was a foot of snow and lots of ice on the ground, the only facility was a single portapotty - and over 50 people showed up and were quite happy!

Anything you do in life will generate flack, not all of it immediately visible. We all need to deal with it and accept hugs when offered (unless they are creepy hugs).

Strangely enough no one has a trailname beginning with "creepy." Creepy Hugs is available.

There is no "proper" number of stamps at an event. Period. It's your event. You need to chill out. :)

You are wrong to "anticipate" flak. You're putting stress on yourself that is not called for.

Relax.

Oh, I am relaxed :-)

I guess at my age, I have these '#@*&*#' moments out loud more often than I should :-)

I, for one, am tremendously grateful to anyone out there who puts on letterboxing events of any size or shape. It's a ton of work! Please don't take any post or thread as discouraging. You do you, and the vast majority of people will be appreciative and have a great time.

HUGS!
I'm one of those who can't find every stamp nor do I care to find every one. Some events I find 20, some I find 100. And who cares? I have friends who will find every single stamp and some who will not. I love them equally, they play the game as they see fit.
It's not a competition to us, but to some it is. Who cares and to each his own. Find as you want to find, Plant as you want to plant.
P.S. I heard your egg hunt last year was phenomenal!!!

Maybe not with that exact spelling, but there is one with a K.
