Thanks Mour4me for such an awesome two day event. You were mostly seen buzzing by in the silver shuttle people mover, it was nice to see you finally taking a seat when nightfall arrived in the middle of the day. You attended to so many details EVEN the cloud cover stayed away until AFTER the eclipse. Great to see all the locals and out of town folk. Most fantastic, thanks for putting on a great once in a lifetime viewing!

Had a great time. Just got home. Left St.L at 4:00, arrived home in Spfld., IL at 9:00. Holy cow, bumper to bumper traffic, literally. 12 1/2 mph to 30 mph most of the way.

Same here! US61 north from Wentzville was busy, but moving. Then road construction in Palmyra backed traffic up to the standstill just north of Hannibal. Thirty-some minutes of that before two lanes merged into one and we were free to go. From there, lots and lots of cars, trucks, and assorted vehicles with a wide variety of license plates, including two from Florida heading north ~ hmmm.

Quote of the Day: by Reluctant Traveler, sitting at the venue with his solar glasses by his side, waiting for the earth to turn a little farther, and who saw a bucket truck pull into the maintenance shed area at the foot of the slope, and said, "I bet Mo is having these trees trimmed so we can see better." Dear best-est hostess ~ Thanks for all you did for us!

Thanks to MOUR4ME for her months of planning and preparation that resulted in an awesome event. The park was so secluded and away from the huge crowds, it was almost as if we had our own property for the eclipse viewing. Usually we eat and run back on the trails, but here we were all able to take time to socialize while we waited in awe. If you weren't there, you really missed something special.

It was totally worth the drive to totality. What a great way to spend the eclipse viewing... with like minded friends. It was nice to meet many of you for the first time. Thanks for all your hard work and hospitality!
We were lucky our drive home was the amount of time it took us to get there.

Now I have to go shop for a commemorative t-shirt

We had such a great time! So glad we drove the 10 hours there, and wonderful people to experience totality with!

Tuesday had us up and breaking camp as storms rolled in. We tried to get everything in before it began pouring, but were not fast enough... Our tents, bedding, and selves were soaked! So because of the storms, it took us a little longer to get home. But we made it! It was quite an adventure!

Looking forward to 2024 when we can view totality from here. perhaps well have a total event then! ;) ( not sure if I can top this one, but I have 7 years to plan... :D )

A man working at a rest stop here in IL who was handing out free visitor guides w/glasses told me there's going to be another one coming up here that will be visible from Carbondale. I don't remember when, though--everyone's been saying this was a once in a lifetime thing.

April 8, 2024 Total showing from Texas and up through NY so not covering nearly as much of the US. ... and through Carbondale again! We are very lucky to have it near us twice only 7 years apart.

And a great time was had by all!!! Thank you so much MOUR4ME for hosting a fabulous fun weekend.

The clues and stamps and location were all fabulous. The company was the best. And the eclipse was amazing!!

We don't get the reward for the farthest drive - 5 1/2 hours. I've had several people ask me if it was really worth driving to St Louis for - YES!! I'd do it again. (But, luckily the next one crossing over my area.)

It was great hanging out with friends, meeting new friends, and just enjoying the beauty of nature. Thank you everyone for making this a fun filled weekend!!

Thanks so much for the awesome event! We had a great time! The event was amazing! Great stamps, great company and fantastic views! Perfection all around! Thanks for all your hard work putting it together! it was completely worth the trip! Took us abou 10 1/2 to get there, and 11 to get back! Not bad at all. My sister-in-law went from CO to WY. She said it took them 4 hours to get there and 8 to get back! So, we definitely got lucky!
