That is another perk. I also enjoy the people watching aspect as well as communicating with different people. My SO is not interested in the game at all. However, he will drive me through downtown Flint at night. I load up on the Pokestops, and he listens to his scanner. It doesn't do much for the buddy or catching them, but that happens when I visit the parks and the RenCen.
Love the Silph Road site. I wish it was available or known to me a couple months ago when I visited NC. Reddit was a bit helpful for that trip.

How do you find out where nests are? I get the same garbage all the time. I rarely play because I'm sick of ratatatas or whatever they're called, and Pidgeys.

This is helpful for those seeking nests. It is crowdsourced, so hopefully your locals have contributed:

You will need to zoom and drag, but if you are clever and know your lat and long, you can put that in the link directly!

My buddy is currently a koffing,

I am amazed that someone else is "walking with a koffing." I thought I might be the only one.

The link that LightninBug gave you is awesome. Unfortunately, the 6th migration happened last night (no more Grand Blanc Charmander nest), so people are finding and confirming nests now on the Global Atlas. I also follow several Facebook groups, some Reddits, and a few web pages. The best place in Michigan to find Pokemon is the RenCen, but the gps gets a little crazy in there. This is one of the better lists: https://www.facebook.com/groups/PGODetroit/permalink/307057316317671/ Here is one focused on Ann Arbor: https://www.joshwoodward.com/ann-arbor-pokemon-go/

Sometimes the nests are infrequent or only in certain areas. Some of the listings have spawn point maps to assist in finding them.

I get the feeling that the Silph Road people might be out of PA. For the past month now, while visiting through SilphRoad.com, when the map starts to load, it hovers over PA. Then it will take me to MI. Maybe the server resides there....

I briefly walked with my Koffing a week ago.

There is a reason for that. When you first load it, it goes to someplace (maybe California, who knows). When I dragged it home, I set it as a favorite. So, yes, you are seeing where I am interested most. If you drag it to your pokehood, make it a favorite and it will update the coordinates.

Koffing is now a Weezing, all growed up. Graveler is my broheem now!

And best of all, Pokefastmap is back:

No, I have used Silph Road since early October. I haven't used your link. It always starts in an area where I see Harrisburg, PA on the map and moves over to Michigan after a few seconds.

Fastpokemap always starts in Los Angeles for me.
