This summer, I have a 4 hour stop in Chicago during a train trip to MN. I looked for nearby letterboxes, but there is nothing terribly close to the station that looks like it's still there. Does anyone know of anything that is worth getting that I have missed?

MAYBE, just MAYBE someone should plant one there by July for me to find. :D Otherwise, I will have to settle for planting something in IL.

I saw the hostel. Is it still there? The comments hint that it may not be, if I am looking at the right one.

The one at the Chicago-Hi hostel may be gone (but considering that I sort of dug on the desk myself to find it, I wouldn't be surprised if it was still there and the employees are just confused), mine is at a different hostel. The last person who looked for mine knocked but no one answered early on a Saturday morning. As far as I know, it's still on the piano. :)

Interesting. I didnt know there'd be more than one in a hostel. I dont even think we have any hostels around here.

I can only think of one or maybe two down here in Miami. But my boyfriend found this place, and even though he isn't a musician (Earphoria caters to musicians) they felt an actor was close enough so they let him stay the month he was there.

Our layover is longer than four hours on the way back. Someone may have mentioned something about a mini-meet while we are there. That would be AWESOME. However, when I asked the husband if a mini-meet sounded good he said something about adding a day to our trip and staying 24 hours. I may be able to see some of Chicago yet!

I will need some tips. Where should we go and what should we see? :D

Museums! Navy Pier. (Great for the kids!) Also the Frank Lloyd Wright home tours were really cool.

If I had a whole day in Chicago, it wouldn't be much letterboxing...

I totally agree- about Navy Pier and the museums! If you only have one day in Chicago, it's best spent seeing the great city; and there's not much in terms of boxes to find downtown, unfortunately.

As long as I find one in IL, I am happy. We are for sure staying over. We will have more than 24 hours in Chicago. Yay!

We have a month...maybe. We used to have a few in downtown, but they have since gone missing...and we moved to the burbs. But, hhhmmm

Oh my gosh! I am curious on the stamp now. I was in Chicago a couple weeks ago, but only found one in the suburbs while there. You have mail.

When looking at places to stay a couple weeks ago, a bunch of hostels came up in Kayak. There is one called the Freehand hostel. Others came up as well. Plus some were renting their rooms.

I was thinking about posting a similar question a few weeks ago. Although, it was more about if a certain LbNA box was still there. If it was safe to attempt it alone. I drove to Chicago though.

The station is a few blocks over from the Civic/Lyric Opera house, Willis Tower, these unique bridges, and a thousand other things. The opera house has some beautiful architecture and gorgeous costumes on display in the basement.

Ended up finding a wonderful pinup from Lock, Shock, and Barrel in the suburbs. Hope to be back very soon. It had been five years since my last visit. Hoping it is less than a year this time!

OK so we have our Hotel picked and we will probably be doing a boat tour and the Navy Pier. Maybe the Willis Tower in the afternoon on the first day.
