And Walmart. After, covering one box, though, I started spray painting the boxes. It was A LOT easier!

It's not only easier, but at least in this area, a much better option. I have not yet found a duct-taped container, either box or pouch, that has been in the wild more than a month or two, where the tape was not peeling off, gross and slimy, and not fully covering the container anyway. I get good, long-lasting results with Krylon Fusion for plastics, in flat, dark green or brown. Krylon also makes a spray paint called Camouflage, especially for outdoor disguises (dark, ultra-flat color). One thing, though, they need to be used on the rigid plastic boxes like L&Ls, because flimsy, flexible plastics will not hold paint of any kind.

I painted dome of my boxes also and I sanded them down first. (L&L) Do I NEED to sand them down first?

I have never sanded them before painting. I retired a 3- box series that had been in the wild two years, and no one bothered to look for. The boxes looked as good as when I planted them, and I just rinsed off the outside, dried them off, and used them for new plants. Also, I use a very light coat of paint - you don't need much, and it avoids a thick layer that might be more prone to cracking or flaking.

Paint doesnt always stay on my boxes, I've tried several kinds. Especially where the soil is wet, I think our soil or swamp runoff is acidic, eats through the paint.

Depends on the kind of paint. I've used some paint where it started to scratch off before I got it to the woods. I always sand mine.

Yes. I recommend getting a fine grit foam sanding block. It makes that job quick 'n easy.

It's also helpful to wash your boxes before painting, even if they're brand new. Plastic normally has a residue of a release agent that helps pop it out of the mold. Paint won't stick to that release agent, but a simple washing will get rid of it.
