I am currently reading Secondhand Souls by Christopher Moore. A sequel to a Dirty Job. So far, so good!

My favorite Christopher Moore is Lamb. I've enjoyed most of his work, but Lamb just amuses me immensely!

I have not yet read Lamb, though I have it. Guess I need to get on the ball!

I enjoyed watchman...I didn't think Atticus came across as terrible, I also thought it was an important historical piece. I wish I knew what happened to Boo though.

I completely agree. I really love Harper Lee's 'voice' even if it is a rough draft manuscript as "Watchman" was.

I HATED Wild--couldn't get past how irresponsible she was

Totally agree. Our movie group chose to see "Wild" and I refused to see it. I read both of Ryan's (Green Tortuga) Appalatian Trail thru-hike blogs and learned so much about long-term hiking. I thought, Reese Witherspoon's character should have read THAT!!

I didn't care much for "Wild" myself. I would highly recommend two other books about women walking - one who walked across America in the late 1800's and one who walked the Appalachian Trail several times in the 1950's (she was in her late sixties at the time). The first is "Bold Spirit: Helga Estby's Forgotten Walk Across Victorian America" by Linda Lawrence Hunt and the second is "Grandma Gatewood's Walk" by Ben Montgomery.

I second that about Wild....not my kind of book. A similar but different book is Miles from Nowhere by Barbara Savage. Barbara and her husband bicycle around the world. Great story! Here is one review: "This is a true story of a husband / wife worldwide adventure from 25 years ago. Barbara Savage chronicles a two year long world tour she and her husband, Larry made beginning and ending in their home state of California, on bicycles! This is not your ususal granola eating, wimpy envoirnmentalist travelogue, but a gritty, realistic and at times humerous tale of the people and places they encounter along the way. From friendly ranchers in South Dakota to motorcycle riding bandits in the middle east, this story has it all. It details the efforts of the author and her husband to overcome and survive hard places and unusual cultures." I highly recommend it
