I just finished Dead Wake and Armada, both were beyond excellent. Armada is the new book by the author of Ready Player One, one of my all time favorites. I am super excited for the new John Irving coming out soon. AND there will be a new Stephen King out next month. Such an influx!! :D

I have been reading a lot of Cornell Woolrich. His short stories and books like Black Alibi, Rendezvous in Black and The Bride wore Black. I can't believe I had never heard of Mr Woolrich until just recently. He wrote a ton of stuff. Very Noir, suspense and many of his stories were made into movies. (Rear Window). I've really been enjoying finding his books at used book stores during my travels

Just finished Tell the Wolves I'm Home (by Carol Rifka Brunt) - fine story, and evocative of the 80's and the fear as the AIDS epidemic began. Also enjoyed Love May Fail (by Matthew Quick) and Euphoria (by Lily King) -- I've got both authors' other books in my library queue now!

We just read Working Stiff for my book club and our next book is Station Eleven. I'm also listening to The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, which I read years ago and am considering picking for book club when it is my turn to host.

I'm reading Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass for an English class. Pretty depressing stuff. So, in my free time I'm reading mindless stories on Fictionpress. Sometimes I come across a good one.

I've read Stiff and Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, so thanks for the rec of Working Stiff! I am going to request it at the library today. I read Station Eleven and even though it's on all the best seller lists I just did not enjoy it one bit. Oh well. :)

Just finished A God in Ruins, the new Kate Atkinson. If you liked Life after Life you'll like this one too. I loved it, her writing is so unique.

I liked working stiff, but be warned that there are graphic descriptions of autopsies. I don't consider myself a squeamish person but I definitely got a little grossed out

Armada is on my nightstand waiting for me....I really liked Ready Player One, or "Game One: Player Ready" as DH likes to call it. :)

Just finished 'The Mysterious Affair at Styles' by Agatha Christie, which I picked up used at Powell's in Portland a few weeks ago.

Before that, I read the first Dresden Files book, which was 'eh.' I prefer more character development....

I highly recommend The Painter as well as The Dog Stars, both by Peter Heller. If you are an audio book fan, listen to The Painter! (Realistic fiction, btw. Dog Stars is post-apocalyptic.)

I am looking forward to Patrick Ness' new book, The Rest of Us Just Live Here and Armada -- I also loved Ready Player One. Also After You by Jojo Moyes, the sequel to Me Before You.
Just added some new titles (recently or about-to-be-published) to my list by new or new-to-me authors:

Fiction
Fishbowl -- Bradley Somer
Let Me Explain You -- Annie Liontas
The Watchmaker of Filigree Street -- Natasha Pulley
Black Chalk -- Christopher J. Yates

Nonfiction
Dancing with the Devil in the City of God: Rio de Janeiro on the Brink by Julianna Barbassa
Avenue of Spies: a true story of terror, espionage, and one American family's heroic resistance in Nazi-occupied Paris by Alex Kershaw. (I thought this would be a good follow-up to The Nightingale, which I liked a lot to my surprise.)

Currently reading Circling the Sun by Paula McClain and Longitude: The true story of a lone genius who solved the greatest scientific problem of his time by Dava Sobel.

Happy reading!
Tamsyn

I just finished Orphan Train. and "Forty Acres" (a very good book by the way) It was thought provoking. Along the thought provoking theme was the Unwound series. It is deemed YA but as a parent and adult I find myself still pondering over them. I just started "All the light we cannot see"

On the to read list is:

The girl in the spider web. a continuation of Girl with a dragon tattoo series.
Girl on the Train

I just finished Ready Player One. I loved it! Of course, I am an 80s fanatic so I guess it isn't too surprising. Did you like Armada as much as RPO? More? Less?

In terms of Fall reading, I just zipped through the new Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels book, Veiled by Benedict Jacka, From the Ashes by Sabrina Flynn, and Overload Flux by Carol Van Natta (you always need some space opera, don't you???). I am about a third in on Fearless by Elliot James. On deck, I have Owl and the Japanese Circus by Kristi Charish, A Red-Rose Chain by Seanan McGuire, Insanity 3: Circus by Cameron Jace, The Paladin Caper by Patrick Weekes, and Dark Horse by Michelle Diener. Oh and I just decided I need to re-read the Dirk Gentlys by Douglas Adams.

I just finished "Go Set a Watchman" and "How Dogs Love Us"
I enjoyed watchman...I didn't think Atticus came across as terrible, I also thought it was an important historical piece. I wish I knew what happened to Boo though.
Also enjoyed the Dogs book (read for my book club) Very readable, and interesting too. More of a memoir of a scientific experiment than a discourse on what was learned.

Currently in the middle of Roughing it by Mark Twain (also a book club book); and "Power of Half". And I need a light fantasy candy read.

Armada is not as good as RPO but I'm not sure *any* book could be. It's in a similar vein with the 80s video games, lots of similarities to The Last Starfighter. It was very entertaining!

I'm currently re-reading my Anne of Green Gables books--because we are planning a trip to Prince Edward Island (and other places Canadian) this fall!

Recently finished:

**The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey--fascinating history about a trip down an uncharted river in South America. A trip that nearly killed him.

**The Buried Giant by Ishiguro--not as good as Remains of the Day but still thought-provoking.

**The Oregon Trail: A New American Adventure--interesting read about a man and his brother who drove a mule-pulled covered wagon along the Oregon Trail

The latest Kinsey Milhone novel is coming out soon--or maybe it is already out. Called X. Only 2 more letters and then she is done :(
