We're experiencing a serious heat wave in Oregon right now. The last 3 days our outside thermometer has hit 106 degrees (and it's in the shade). I had a full day of boxing planned tomorrow, but now I'm not sure we'll be able to go. This heat is making me very crabby.

I did manage to get one box today! But now I am planted right in front of the AC!

This is the same reason I have not gone out either. These are the times when we need to have a mini meet and greet with all the locals in a nice cool restaurant. South Portland metro are?

I did 5 miles on Lime Kiln Trail in Granite Falls, WA today....pretty level as it was a railroad grade, but this heat is killing me. Drank all my water, I am miserable. But it is hike-a-thon month and I need the miles. I know I will be only doing flat rail trails for the rest of the time if it continues to be like this UGH

Our heatwave of the past week broke and after the Portlandish rainy season we've had all spring and summer, I was finally able to re-stain our deck on August 1st! Lower humidity and only about 82 degrees today. The job is done and it only took about 5 hours (after all the prior prep work). Mr. Miyagi would be proud.

but this heat is killing me.

You should listen to your body. I'm relatively use to high temperatures, but I've also been hit with heat stroke which if you can't get proper relief, is really serious. It's not just water that you need, but also electrolytes.

If you want to put in a day of hiking/boxing in this weather, start at 5 am & go til it gets hot. Early morning on a soon-to-be hot day is extraordinarily enjoyable.

Be safe out there,
