Welcome! Send AQ mail to SouthernOracle. She is in JAX and is really nice. I wish you were in Palm Beach County. We hardly have any boxers here.

My best advice is to go to the craft/art supply store and get a sketch book to use as a log book. I was so excited to start letterboxing that I used a really small notebook as my first log book and I now wish I knew what sort of logbook would hold up best over time when I first started. You can use markers to ink stamps too. I did not know that till I started letterboxing. You can also use a store bought stamp to start as your signature stamp; but, I highly reccomend you get some carving material and try your hand an making your own stamp. I am SO not artistic and I have learned to make some half way decent stamps by using image transfer methods so it is more like tracing wiht a knife to carve rather than just staring at a blank piece of rubber and trying to make something amazing.

Yay! Welcome! I grew up in Orange Park, but live in Central Florida now. I hope you can make the event in February in Anastasia Park...there's already lots of fun boxes in the St. Augustine area.

Look forward to meeting you!

Welcome! Looking forward to meeting you! I agree, look for boxes with recent finds...the first one we went after was missing and it was a real bummer.

Also, there is a Florida Letterboxing group on Facebook...I hope you join!

Hi! Welcome to Jax! What part of town are you in? Eeyoremama is in this neck of the woods too.

I would be happy to meet up for boxing or an exchange :)

I also agree with all of the suggestions made about the event in February which will be awesome and the fun boxes nearby.

Glad you found AQ and happy boxing!

Eeyoremama is in this neck of the woods, too. She is also currently on a cruise, and then pretty busy with kid stuff for a couple of weeks.

Hello! i'm her sister. Welcome to the area! i don't live there, i'm just her AQ answering service. . .

Another idea is to go with unlined index cards. That way, when you're tromping 5 miles down a rugged trail, you only need to carry a couple of index cards with you, not your entire log book. For a log book, you can use a photo album -- just slip the index cards into the sleeves -- or you can use any other scheme available for filing index cards.

We use this method, but then the kids like to glue the stamps in their log books. We like taking the books to events better.

Also, welcome to FL.

Works, except for larger stamps. I have at least 6 that are too big for index cards. I do try to mention it in the clues. I like to have at least 5x7 size available.
