Board: The Grateful Letterboxers!

The last time I went tent camping, there
were bears in the area. Each tent site had a
tall pole. There was a hook on the end. You
could hang food and supplies from this to keep
critters out. Does this camp have anything like
this? Or should I bring some rope for a tree stash?
I won't have much at the site. I hope to have
some granola bars, etc. But even with the wrappers,
I'm afraid of something sniffing it out.
What's your experience?

No Bear worries here! It's always best to keep food packed in a cooler. We'll see about getting you one to use for the week. The only thing you'll find in our trees are birds and an occasional letterbox in the triple trunk type, but no dangling food stashes. Ticks and mosquitos are the biggest nuisance. I've never even seen a shunk or raccoon in the campgrounds. It's kept nice and clean. There's a couple of dumpsters for trash which helps keep the varmints away.

But we did leave it on the table in a ziploc bag.
The kids are supposed to put food back in the tote or cooler!
We have never had trouble with food that was closed up in a tote.

Pete,
We have already promised Sits-N-Knits use of our cooler, complete with ice, and it's real easy for us to come up with anything for camping on a last-minute basis. After all, we are going home to our comfortable bed every night, and a run to the campground takes us even less time than it takes you from your home.

Gambling Picassos - I just want to say publicly how wonderful you both are. We're very grateful for all you do behind the scenes and how accommodating you are to our visitors from distant lands. Thank you!

INDEED!!!! I second the motion, and respectfully request that Muddy Paws also look into the mirror and take a bow for their EXTRAORDINARY "over-the-top" Grateful row decor craftsmanship and campsite hosting!

Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge,......... Know what I mean? ;o)

The squirrels got Guzzelin' Gal's peanut butter cookies OUT OF THE LnL last year. And they were noisy about it. This year, I'll just keep all food in my car. :-D

Oh Sits N Knits!! I am so exited that you are really coming to Mass for the Grateful Dead event!! Can't wait to see you.

We won't be there until Thursday. We are sort of half campers. Yes, we set up a tent and sleep in it and have a camp stove, cooler full of food, lanterns and such. We manage to get breakfast at the site and sandwiches, or yogurt and fruit for lunch, but we most likely head off campground for supper. Lots of places not too far away. if you get sick of cooking come join us for supper out.

I go to these events to letterbox and have fun with other people, not spend a lot of time cooking outside. If you enjoy it fine, but I don't want to spend my time that way. <3

Everyone will help you do and get whatever you need. No worries!! Just fun!!

Thank you Seagull. I would enjoy going out to dinner.

Everybody, Seagull came into the store where I work
in FL. And she personally invited me to Dark Star.
I couldn't say no :-D

I look forward to seeing you

I would enjoy going out to dinner.

FYI - this year we'll be organizing a dinner out, probably Wednesday. I was thinking either Joe Fish or the Lobster Claw(most casual). There's nothing wrong with multiple outings - just a little more expensive. If people are into it, we could try an early Friday dinner too. No advance sign-up needed.

I believe that certain letteboxers have "interesting" memories from last year, Bubs. Just keep repeating the famous Alfred E Newman quote:
"What,......... me worry?"

To avoid confusion, I already packed a chain-link fence with door and padlock to go around my tent...... and I ordered a neon sign looks like this:

"BUBs HERE! ---------->"

But did you know that most campers your size only have a tongue wait of about 200 lbs.? So a couple of good size guys on the tounge, and another 3 pushing, and that camper could end up anywhere. Lucky for you Brian isn't a "good size guy" ;-)

Sure hope we can join you for dinner! Not sure, though. That's some prime camp set-up time for us. If we can get in early enough and settled in, we'll definitely head out with you!! Mark us down as a "definite maybe." :-)
