Okay, I've not given up on this show as many of you have. But, the fact that they were advertising the answers to 3 burning questions and, in fact, only answered half of one (Jack's tattoos--which in my book wasn't even a smoking question, let alone burning--they only explained half his tattoos and who cares anyway since they are Matthew Fox's real tattoos and truly have nothing to do with LOST) is going to really anger those who felt this show was going nowhere. Even I'm annoyed. I think the only thing I learned was that Kate doesn't really love Sawyer after all. Although, as my sister suggests, maybe she's just one of those that can't admit love unless desperate....fear of losing love and all that. So, maybe I didn't even learn that.

1. They work on this smaller island only. They don't live there.
2. The kids and Cindy are alive and well and have been sheltered from the goings-on of the Losties since they didn't know of Ana Lucia's demise.
3. Karl loves Alex. Alex loves Karl.

Any other lessons learned from this episode? And I thought the whole Phuket storyline was too contrived. They didn't even give us a timeline--I'm assuming it was supposed to happen after his marriage fell apart.

I just didn't like this episode. Not one minute. It's my least favorite episode. I'm grumpy, tired, and going to bed.

Somebody write something to help me change my mind.

Wish I could, but I can't. The only reason I'm watching Lost is for the twists and to find out what happens at the end. I never got all swept up in the subplots and off-the-air shenanigans (mystery websites and phone numbers and all that). If I actually put stickers on my truck, I might have one that reads:

I'd Rather Be Watching "24"

or Star Trek

or "I'd Rather Be Letterboxing" (I guess that one should go on the TV?)

I am with you....after every episode I say I hate this show, but then glue myself to the tv for the next one. Though I HATE the new 10:00 time....i have a hard time being fully awake at 11 when its just ending.

I sort of assumed that the Phuket thing happened before he was married. Though I dont know why I made that assumption. It makes sense for it to have been after.

I loved Kates comment about walking 10 paces behind Sawyer.

They need to start coming up with real answers or they will lose a lot more people.

I agree with you two, also!

About giving us real answers--anyone ever watch Alias? Another J.J. Abrams show with the same problem!

While last night episode probably wasn't my favorite, I wasn't disappointed and I'll tell you why. If you listen to the official Lost podcast, you'll learn that Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse (writters of Lost) are not happy the way ABC hypes LOST with their big promotional ads. Even Lindeloff and Cuse were commenting on the fact that there weren't 3 burning questions answered last night. Only Jack's tatoo was explained as far as they were concerned and they write the show.

I've decided to ignore all the ABC promos and just take the show as it happens. Too bad the network can't stop manipulating us and let the show unfold naturally.

Take care, Orion

I thought last night's episode was more interesting than the previous two weeks. Perhaps it is because I don't care about Juliet or Desmond's back story as much. But these three weeks have all been pretty dull.

I also dislike the new time slot. Now I have to record Lost and watch it at 10:00 (because they put in on against CSI: NY), so it is getting to be 11:00 by the time I am done as well.

According to Entertainment Weekly, we will find out about Locke's legs on March 21. We will also find out if Claire is Jack's half-sister at some point in the first 6 episodes - and since we have already been through 3 of them, obviously it is in one of the next 3. And the Others' connection to the Dharma Intiative will be revealed on March 7. So hopefully, these episdoes will be a bit more interesting. :)

I agree about 10:00 versus 9:00. I've heard that it didn't want to compete with American Idol which I wish would just go away already.

Showing the latest rerun at 9:00 is a good idea though. That way they still hold their original time slot and I get to review it :-) Now, if only the promo department would only watch the show before they put together their wildly inaccurate teaser commericials. We're smarter than that.

I'm looking forward to learning about Locke, Claire and the Dharma initiative.

I've been disappointed for quite some time. Glad some of you others are finally joining the fold. ;o)

As for the new timeslot--terrible. I'd much rather watch Medium which actually answers questions.

Actually, I now refuse to watch Lost as it airs because of too many commercials. Sometime about midway through last season, they had a commercial break then all of about two or three minutes of show then went back to another commercial break. They had more commercials than TV show! After that, I stopped watching the show as it aired and now tape it to watch later and fast forward through those commercials. Instead, I watch the commercials during Medium. (You hear that ABC?! I'm watching NBC commercials and NOT yours!!)

But you know, I still find it highly annoying that I'm clicking that fast forward button every few minutes. ARGH! I may have to resort to watching the shows after they come out in DVD instead.

I'm very dissatisfied with Lost, though. They're killing the show.

Did anyone watch Medium last night? Darn, I love that show! =) I have to confess, though, that this last one was a bit predictable. I immediately picked up on the fact that when she said the problem was "the house" that she never mentioned WHAT house. Usually I'm not very good at picking up on the "twist" so early in the show, but I had that one figured out long before the characters in the show did. =)

I will confess that I watched American Idol last night. 2 hours of mostly commercials. For each singer they had at least 8 min of commercials. ARGH!!!

By the way....I finally figured out how to "quote" :)

I think that should be the official sign that you are no longer a "newbie". At least here on AQ.

I've always loved Medium and was disappointed when they moved Lost opposite it. Medium was great when it was on Mondays at 10:00. That's a pretty weak night for me. Tonight's my full line up night with all the great NBC comedies.

I'm sticking with Lost despite the flaws. It's an unfolding, interesting story. I stuck with Alias to the end and I'll be doing the same with Lost. So if you miss something, e-mail me and I'll fill you in :-)

Take care, Orion
P.S. I really enjoy the Official Lost podcasts with Lindeloff and Cuse. The podcasts are required listening for a Tufts University class. How interesting...college sure has changed from when I went!

My favorite night of television for the week! Did you notice J.J. Abrams directed tonight's Office? It was Joss Whedon last week. I can't express how much I adore that show. And Scrubs. Everyone's always talking about Grey's Anatomy and Scrubs is so brilliant and funny every week and gets no love.

I was perfectly happy with Lost last night since I must have missed all the promos promising revelations. Thank you, TiVo, for keeping those from me!

Well American Idol is the reason that Lost got bumped to 10pm. They didn't want to compete with that juggernaut. I don't blame them- they'd lose even MORE viewers (although I still haven't figured out why- I HATE Idol, but that's another story).

Anyway, you're right- the promo dept. has nothing to do with the show itself... why do we fall for the hype. I didn't play the online Lost game either & I think it's helped maintain some of my sanity (I'm not playing the Heroes one either for what it's worth).

I also think it's a good sign that Cuse & Lindeloff are already discussing an end trajectory for Lost. JJ Abrams ended Alias about a season too late & I hope they don't make that mistake on Lost. The final season on Alias was great, but I admit that I caught most of it on DVD- I'd found something else to watch by then. I hope they pull the plug on Lost while it still has something left worth tuning in for. Leave before the party's over right?

I have to disagree. I like this show because of the story and the acting and all the twists and turns they throw into it. If all people expect is answers, then there are plenty of other shows that offer storylines that wrap up after an episode or two. It's the same reason I like Heroes and 24. It isn't always about the answers, but how it's told.

I agree with jaxx. I, too enjoy the twists and turns even though answers are not always forthcoming. However, one answer I would like to know is this: Last season when the hatch blew up, why was Desmond's girlfriend, Penny notified. Does anyone remember this and are they, too wondering? To me, this is the biggest question(don't know why, though).

Oh, don't get me wrong. I enjoy LOST and will keep watching. I was just pointing out that they are going to lose more viewers by claiming to reveal answers and then not doing it! I won't be one of the lost LOST viewers :-) just yet.

I believe Penny is looking for Desmond. I think she thinks her father sent Desmond away. When Des had his dream, he told Penny about an island. My sis says that the writers have verified that they really had this conversation (wasn't a dream) so maybe that is how she knows to look for it. So, I think Penny is paying some guys to monitor an area and notify her of any findings.

Clarification for my previous post...

I do enjoy Lost, and am not looking for quick answers. I, too, enjoy watching the plot and answers unfold. My fear is that the answers won't actually come. My reference to Alias--often times, the episodes or seasons would end with a huge cliff hanger that was never later really satisfactorily resolved or explained. The biggest one I can think of at the moment (my husband could offer a few more) is what was actually in that important file Sydney found and used a black light to read (Jack then entered and told her she was never supposed to see it). My husband and I never felt that we got a good answer; it was as if the writers had a great cliff hanger, but couldn't come up with a resolution for it.
However, the final few moments of the series was awesome!!!

Feel free to disagree with me on any point! :)

I had no idea that either Abrams or Whedon had directed any The Office episodes!
Last night had me howling when Michael was trying to escape the straight jacket. I'll take Scrubs over just about anything, anyday. I especially love it when they have their daydrean sequences!!!

I loved the ending to Alias and plan on buying the special edition Rombaldi boxed set.
I find Lost intriguing because they're posing questions that might get answered or maybe not. Kind of like real life. But beyond the questions vs. answers situation, I think the writting, scenery, music and the overall atmosphere is so well done. Plus all new episodes until May-very cool.

Definitely check out the Official Lost podcast. They answer viewers questions and dispel a lot of misconceptions.

Take care, Orion
P.S. I thought the latest Lost promo was pretty funny. "Don't miss this episode or you won't know what they'll be saying around the water cooler the next morning"! I'm self employed-what water cooler?! :-)

I am employed in an office and we have a water cooler - but we have NEVER held a conversation around it! Where in the heck do people ACTUALLY do that?? :)

Yup, poor Sawyer finally fell in love with someone who's treating him the way he used to treat women. Isn't it ironic that he finally fell for someone that he can't get.

And I don't know if Kate will ever totally love anyone. Didn't someone once asked her "What happened to you Kate to make you this way?".

Take care. Orion
