Quote A letterboxer that visited my boxes in Florida sent me pics of her family letterboxing at 2 of my boxes.

I took photos of my son planting a letterbox and he came up with a great idea. Why not include a disposable camera in the LB with a note asking finders to take a photo? I think it is a good idea, although I wonder if anybody would do it, or if most are too camera-shy?

I think I'd be worried about the camera getting wet. It sounds fun, though. It would especially cool if there weren't a lot of gatherings around to meet people or if it was a touristy box that attracted lots of out of towners.

Geocachers do that sometimes. They'll actually post some of the pictures on geocaching.com when the camera gets full.

If you like the idea and are worried about water in the camera, Kodak puts out a single use camera that is made for underwater use. Might want to try that. Take care. Jane

I'd actually be more concerned about temperature fluctuations than water. High heat will spoil film faster than you can say "cheese." I know they make disposable digitals these days... are they too costly? and are they susceptible to the same temperature issues?

but I think it's a really cool idea!

A boxer in our area has included a camera in at least one of his boxes for a few years. He has a whole series of boxes which require solving math problems. His students get credit for finding the boxes and for one of the boxes they need to take a photo of themselves with the camera to prove they were there. (The rest of us just stamp in, relieved to have solved everything at least well enough to find the box!)

Yep, we've sponsored (via adoption) a geocache in Seoul, Korea and it contained one of those disposable cameras. It's interesting--even though the geocache has had dozens of visitors the entire roll of film on the camera hasn't yet been exhausted! dvn2r ckr

Hummm...now I'm thinking of a "Smile for the Camera" box. They're a little pricey...but I bet a underwater disposable camera would work
