Maybe boxing is not such a good idea yet.... almost all the CT state parks are still closed, I tried to head into Rhode Island, but strategic roads are not yet open. Guess it's on to yard clean up! Wishing everyone else gets their power back soon!

Ours is back too. Woot! My daughter's high school post poned opening until next week. Now she doesn't get Freshmen orientation. Going to a school of 2700 from a graduating class of 29. She really wanted that first day to be the freshman class of 680 only. Now she is being thrown into school with everyone. Poor kid.

Went to Sleeping Giant state park today for a few hours. LOTS of trees down, difficult to navigate since the trails are covered with debris, some trees crossing trails, and STREAMS! It's been so dry all summer that it's amazing to see water running everywhere. Letterboxing was a different challenge because it was hard to see any kind of path to a box or the usual familiar poker stick that people often leave nearby to chase the snakes before sticking a hand into caves or under rocks.

Envious! We're still out in Chester. I'm at the library in Old Saybrook right now. Planning to go to the middle school in Deep River to take a shower later!!

I'm like 2-3 miles from RPQ and I'm still int the dark. In fact, I live in a 1/2 mile sea of darkness surrounded by power - so not fun :(

80% of Glastonbury is still without power. But, we wanted to get outdoors, and found that letterboxing on the Shenipsit Trail in (East) Glastonbury was great fun. The trails are a little adventurous as planned, but dry, clear, and well marked, and all boxes were found as clued and in good condition. It was nice to see that trails and boxes survived the hurricane!

I was planning on doing the T-series on the Tunxis Trail starting this month, but now I'm not sure. I did see a map showing the percentage of people without power by town, and the area around the Tunxis had one of the least people with power out, so maybe it will be possible. In Shelton a couple of the trail volunteers were out yesterday with chainsaws clearing away wreckage, but we have over 15 miles of trails so it's going to take a long time.

Oh, hey, and just a reminder to check the status of those shoreline boxes, everyone. I'm listing three of mine as 'unknown' because I strongly suspect they were swept away.

Letterboxing at CT state parks--the parks are good here in northern Hartford county. We've been to Shenipsit State Park in Stafford/Somers, and was at the Scantic River Trail in Somers yesterday. The Scantic River is high and some of the trail by the river is washing away, but none of the letterboxes are affected. The trail leading to them may need to be changed slightly, though.

Wish all of you the best of luck with storm recovery. We were part of the few who have had power.
