I would also recommend using epub.com. The epub format is easier for the nook to use and smaller than pdf files. They have most of the classics and some books from new authors. I am pretty sure all of the books are free there. I think you will need the calibre software in order to book the epub books on your nook, but it is worth it. (calibre is like itunes but for books and it's free).

Huh. Good to know. I'd heard of overdrive for library books, but not cailbre. I will look into it- thanks!
I did discover last night that b&n has some collections of classics for pretty cheap. One has 81 books for $2.99 or something like that, and there are also some collections by genre. They are all by Milsap publishers.

if it's already in epub format, you don't need calibre for your nook to read it. just plug the nook in to the computer and put the book's file folder in the my documents folder on the nook. then unplug the nook from the computer. when you open the library list, there'll be an option in the touch screen to go to my library, touch that, and the books tyou've side-loaded will be there.

you can get back to the main library by touching go to b&n library or something like that, also on the touch screen.

You're welcome. This is what comes from writing, and making your own ebooks.
I do use Calibre to help turn my documents into EPUB format so my nook can read them...because I can't convince any of the retailers that if I wrote the book, I shouldn't have to pay for it.
