I text. I stand there with my Blackberry and pretend to text, every now and then making huffing noises and rolling my eyes like I'm mad at whomever I'm texting. They usually scoot pretty fast past me. :D If they don't move fast, I start talking to myself through clenched teeth, like I'm REALLY mad and then they usually pick up the pace.

At the zoo on Saturday - we did a combination of all the things mentioned:

  1. 1 - Used the stroller as a shield / distraction
  2. 2 - Moved away from the hiding spots / velcro
  3. 3 - At one point, sent PrincessHailey to make a "distraction" (Petra)
  4. 4 - Dropped something and scooped up the box on the rebound.

I love trying to be unnoticed. Phoenix also went into the reptile house with us because I couldn't get a clear re-hide.

Hubby and daughter went to the zoo the same day you did. I was sick. I asked hubby if he saw anyone near the boxes and he said no so you must have been there at different times. Anyway, he said they checked on most of the boxes since they were there anyway but there was NO WAY they could get anywhere near the Petra box because it was just so crowded. I was glad to see your find report that everything was there since he could only get close to 3 or 4 of the boxes. It was a beautiful day for it... glad you had fun!

When I'm with Sweetness we play the parts of mom who is to distracted by her phone to pay attention to her child and child who is bored so goes poking around to entertain herself. Sweetness grabs the box and we're off. I usually by the mom part and Sweetness plays the child part.

When I'm alone, I play the part of fatty who can't take another step and must sit down at that very spot to rest and check her phone. When the coast is clear, I grab the box and go. No fat suit required!

If you've ever been in a room with her you hear clucking, braaaacking, crowing and barking. I suppose it could be any of the above. It's uncanny, in a Ripley's sorta way. We need more roosters in this world and fruitcakes!
