Happy New Year to all my wonderful friends in NC. The snakes say "hi". I'm afraid they are being a bit wild on their first New Year's eve in Oregon, but I'm sure they will recover :-) All the best to you in the coming year. storm rider

What??? You mean to tell me they aren't being "Charming"??

I'm expecting some letterboxers here any minute...starting our day off with coffee and tea and my homemade banana bread. Then off for a letterboxing adventure. The perfect way to ring in the new year!! Hoping to reach my goal of 3,000 by Jan. 6th my AQ anniversary.

Happy New Year to all...from one of your favorite turtles :o)

Time to reflect on the year 2010 and all the things we said/did/experienced.

It has been quite a year!
I remember starting off the year with SNOW AND ICE at 2 January events (in Asheville and Hickory). The weather was miserable and I really didn't get any boxes (which probably accounts for my low number of finds this year).
BUT it was really fun seeing everyone huddled together singing at the outhouse.
And the MMT3 people came from so far way! We said good bye to a friend and welcomed a new.
And we can reflect now on how important it is to enjoy every single minute enjoying each other since you never know when it will be your last time with them.

And the beginning of the year pointed the course for the rest of the year. There were great adventures to TN, NY, SC (and other places for other folks). We wished bon voyage to Shoafsters as she starts a new life elsewhere and good bye to Nanni and Preboxed.

And for the beginning of this year, I plan to start it the same as the last: partying with friends at the MMTM event with total abandonment like there may be no tomorrow (because sometimes there is not). Make memories. You will cherish them later.

And then thinking about what new adventure may be in my plans for this year:
Maybe Gatlinburg again?
Maybe WV?
Maybe another Second Saturday Seekers event?
Maybe something in GA?
Maybe Paris Mtn again?
Maybe another VA adventure?

Welcome 2011!

WOW I can't believe how many events you are planning on attending! I thought you were the shy one that liked smaller parties??

AWE Charlie looks so cute with Abby or is that the otherway around? But either way I wonder if she would go to him now?

Well hopefully we can make a trip out that way for some reason sometime this year we can't have a year without at least one trip to NC, right?!

Well, I won't make it to ALL of them!! I'm just trying to decide! I've not even signed up for them yet (once I sign up I'm 99% sure I'm going). But aside from Gatlingburg those all ARE smaller parties. :)

Because I tend to go to smaller ones, you may have the perception that I don't attend many. But really I attend an average of about 1 per month in the last 2 years (and a total of 47):

I went to 11 events in 2010.
I went to 12 in 2009.
I went to 8 in 2008.
I went to 8 in 2007.
I went to 4 in 2006.
I went to 4 in 2005. And 3 out of those 4 were ran by me either alone or in conjunction with someone else. And they were the ONLY events in NC that year. We did the first official NC event (as far as I know). Prior to that we did a mini meet where 3M's lived and a mini meet where I lived.

I actually assisted in running most of the early ones which all took place in my area as a result. :)

After 3M's left, I just didn't have the local social person to plan with anymore. I'm a much better behind the scenes support person. And so many other places took off with events that it really wasn't necessary anymore anyway. Now there's a great selection of stuff to attend anywhere!!

It's true that I'm not a social person. But given the right support, I have more confidence in a social situation than I normally would. Heck, I will actually be in an act for MMTM now-- basically because someone actually asked me to join them and come up with something that I think I could actually do! Thank, Florys! :)
