Thanks for listening and the responses everyone!

I actually got a little lucky, I feel, with the financial situation. Like I said, it's all been falling into place so far and good things have happened for us. We were able to borrow the down payment from my parents (which was small, but would make us not have Christmas) with a promise to pay it back from our taxes. I managed to get a credit card, with a high interest rate but low payments so I can actually make at least double payments to buy the fridge and stove myself. We can afford everything but not the extras like the moving company. Luckily everyone who is going to help offered as long as I buy the beer. I can handle a case of beer... and buying one for them too! We're trading my tiny car with my parents for their SUV and trailer and everyone else has a truck (and yay, my car will get fixed AGAIN by the dealership while my parents have it, so one less headache). As long as I get help with the big/heavy stuff, my man and I can do the rest bit by bit if need be.

I hear ya about the 55 gallon fish tank, got one of those and a 29 gallon one too. We're making all the plans and organizing everything before we do this (I've actually been cleaning for the last 3 months with moving in mind) and I got a lot of great advice on the critter corner board about helping all of my animals with the move. I feel like I'm being extremely anal and it's driving me (and my man) crazy but I know it'll make it easier.

My man and I are doing the fighting part of this situation now, lol. Thankfully we're communicating all of our frustration and how we feel about the fighting (I just got the most beautiful text message that made me cry in a good way finally) and we know that it's normal and we just have to stick it out and try harder to not do it and to understand each other when we do. I know it bothers him that with his work schedule I'm ending up doing most of the work right now and will also have to do most of the moving as well.... what he doesn't know yet is that he will be doing most of the unpacking! lol!!!!!

I really think this is one of the most stressful things I've ever done. I generally thrive on stress for the most part, but this one is knocking me over at this point. I'm not sleeping well, I'm managing to eat when I remember (luckily the people who are helping me move are also shoving food down my throat to keep me from buying groceries to move). I have yoga class tonight so that will help tremendously as well.... as long as I remember to breathe out the frustration and breathe in the tranquility and forget about those damn boxes!!!

Thanks again everyone, moonduck

In my years as a financially normal person...; ) I have found that they can't kill you! Just keep breathing and if you feel like you can't get a breath you'll bob or pop up eventually, before you turn blue and pass out...your house is just that YOUR HOUSE and so worth the struggle ....Christmas is going to be so rich with blessings and warmth with your own boxes on your own floor ....RELAX and ENJOY this to shall pass and you will laugh about ramen as you serve it to your kids in years to come!!!

Hey, we can kind of, sort of feel your pain. We were supposed to move again 28-30 Dec!!! Oh, we just moved into this house in the middle of this past August so we've barely even unpacked yet. Learned about a week ago that our move got postponed by 4 weeks so instead we'll probably be moving with a couple feet of snow on the ground. ;)

Hope everything goes smoothly for you. There's nothing like living in your own place where you can make the decisions about most everything!!! We're tenants now, begrudgingly, and are really missing the freedom we had in our own home (which has other tenants in it at the moment because our jobs moved us some 3,000 miles away from there).

MoonDuck,

Quote So keep the big picture in mind. It will NEVER go as planned so do not count on it

I think this advice from onajourney is good.
But I am thinkin aboutcha.
Be blessed for trying to be content on ramen noodles!
When hubby was real young he was living on beans and weiners. He lived in a rented garage
with his car until he had the money for his first abode.
Hope all goes well, and your BF is able to listen and do what he needs to do.
Hoping for peace for you in all this so you can enjoy all the blessings.
take care.
And once it happens, enjoy your own place!!!!

Quote daelphinus...moving again??

Yes, but thankfully it's only a few miles away--but a move's a move and this will be the 4th in 3 years (10th in 14.5 years--if you don't count the 4 extended work-induced separations that required maintaining two different households--if you count those add 4 more moves into the mix). So we're not too thrilled.

They're planning on renovating the home we're currently in--a nice quiet cul-de-sac neighborhood that nobody seems to know about on a half-mile loop; 70-year old homes with hardwood floors and an attic to die for (as far as kids' imaginations go as we've converted it into a neat playroom/college style dorm). We're moving to a house on a major thoroughfare, across the road from a major sports field that seems to be blasted with stadium lights & noise all night long, in a neighborhood with little to no green-space areas, a yard that's about 10'x10' and a house with floor to floor WHITE carpeting. ARGH!!! THE HORRORS!!! The one benefit is that we'll have a garage again--so our cars will be happy. ;)

Yes, moving just isn't all that fun unfortunately.

Thats cruel and unusual right there. Sick and wrong.

I've moved so often (14 times in 23 years) that I don't bother unpacking all my stuff anymore. I think it's a curse. I remember, when I was young, I had asked my mother why we never moved. I think I now have the answer. BTW, my mom still lives in the house I grew up in.

Thanks everyone for all the hugs and thoughts and blessings, I think it's helping! I managed to only think and focus only on myself in my yoga class last night for a whole hour and a half and I found a huge inner peace that I'd been missing and I've managed to hold on to it to remind me to be at peace and to relax. Not to mention I did a handstand for the first time, so I had something to be really excited about FOR ME!!! I didn't realize how badly I needed to concentrate on me in order to help me and my man. But at the end when we relaxed and focused inward, I felt a huge amount of energy inside of me (I think it was even vibrating) and I think it's because so many people were thinking about me and wishing me well, so thank you all!

Wow that sounded hippy-ish, lol!!!

We talked a lot last night and I think I've got him a little bit more calmed down. He knows what I'm working on and he knows what he needs to do now too. He knows that I'm going to surprise him tonight when he gets home with how much I'll get done while he's at his second job. I get so much more done when he's not in my way! It's all going to fall into place b/c we're keeping each other thinking positively and as someone pointed out to me, we've paid our dues in the BS column and when you're doing something right, it just happens for you.

And maybe, just maybe, by this time next week, we'll be all moved in and thinking about doing things to our home that we've never been able to do before b/c it wasn't ours! Like painting and stuff! And we're going to have a real tree and decorate the whole house with our meager supplies of decorations, it's going to be wonderful I'm sure, as soon as we wade thru the not fun stuff and get the keys.

OOO, me too, me too! I still have a slight itch to go somewhere new every couple of years! My hubby lets me pack our bags when we go anywhere cuz I'm so good at it!! ;)

I have a friend that moved from outside city limits, to inside....she complained the whole time! I told her, try doing that every two years to a different state! No sweat for me, now!

moonshowr~~ thinking how she still isn't used to civillian life, even after 12 years
