Ok was reading some past posts, and am now just a little confused....are PT boxes that you carry (with their own log)? or just stamps you stamp in each others logs....OR is it another one of the do what you want things here on AQ??? We have a meet Friday, so if they are boxes I need to make some logs.....

I don't believe there is a log with PTs; we don't have one (or 4, for that matter) and nobody we have encountered has had one. Basically it is a just a stamp that people get rewarded with if they answer correctly or solve some puzzle, or simply ask for.

thanks! I think the post I was reading may have been written by someone from England (he mentioned parasites) so that's why my little brain was confused :0)

Parasites are like hitchhikers, only they pass from person to person to person instead of box to box.

Though when it comes to Travellers those I have met usually have a logbook and your *visit* is recorded the same as a fixed box. Though on the other hand we don't exchange signature stamps when meeting.

It's worth noting that this isn't quite true on this side of the pond- here in America, what DM just described are actually called 'cooties', not parasites.
Parasites are a different creature here- they're like hitchhikers of hitchhikers.

Whoops another slight difference between east and west of the big pond. As I understand it Cooties are passed on surepticiously (sp?) while Parasites are passed on openly.

I have logbook for each of my PT's,just so I can look back and know who's earned them and read any comments they left. You don't have to,but it's a fun memory.:)

We are very new to this wonderful hobby. We had a question on the PT> So when we get clues from someone who has a PT. We figure out the clues. Do we then just get a stamp from there PT>..or do we get the actual PT stamp itself. Sorry we are so confused so many things with this hobby. it is so much fun. Just trying to make sure we get it all correct. Thank you.

When you meet someone in person, either on the trail or at a gathering, you tell them the answer and you get to stamp their PT in your logbook. You do not take the actual stamp.

Once you figure out the PT clue, you have to say the answer to the letterboxer who created it. Then they will stamp their PT into your logbook. Most of the time PT's are exchanged in person.
