Just a quick note to say I have not worked on much of that letterboxing challenge since Mojo had the race car accident Saturday night.
She is fine but the car is not....it's toast!
We just found that out last night. The car's frame is now the shape of a slight horseshoe.
Man she drove hard... and wrecked hard.
All she cared about was she got 2nd place! LOL

anyway...
more cutie doc appointments this week and then back to the Challenge ;)

Can the car be fixed? Or is that the end of the racing?

Well... the story of that car is a long one anyways...but to put it in a nutshell...
that thing was only possible because everyone and their brothers had a part in it... or should I say a part ON it..!?
Every favor Mikey had ever done for those that do the dirt track racing and such was answered. Everybody donated a piece here and a piece there to get her on the track to see if she liked it and could do it.

Well.... you shoulda seen the proud faces Saturday as she drove the heck outta that car!
Now that the car is fixable but... even with about $500 worth of work to the frame and roll cage it would still be a piece of junk in other ways... there are some other racers that has took a liking to her and us and they are all pitching in to get her back on the track! It's amazing! This little car that is being fixed for her this week is much better than what she had but they are letting her pay only $300 for it over the winter...little by little! They are practically giving it to her! Even the $300 can maybe be had with sponsorships. The track told her they like having her and last time she didn't even have to pay to get in. She is really lucky! They all said she needed a better car anyway because she goes fast enough and is competitive enough.

So... this little car is gonna be safer and better but it is gonna be a pure labor of love!
It will take all of us and all those racer fellers all week to get it ready! We must put the engine, fuel cell, transmission...everything from the old car into this racing body by the weekend.

She is looking for sponsorships because she also bent up two wheels that was loaned to her...so now she has to buy 4 (2 to replace the others and 2 for the car) but that is our biggest obstacle right now! $60 wheels!

ok...
maybe that wasn't in a nutshell afterall ;)

There you have it, folks. The spirit that built NASCAR before the big corporations got into it is still alive and strong on the dirt tracks. :-)

That's a great story, Dixie, and it reminds me of some of my dad's dirt track stories from waaaaay back when.

Yep, that's the same reason that I like minor league baseball, but the big leagues are totally boring - bunch of spoiled over-paid egos.....

Sorry if you are a sports nut, that's just where I'm at with pro sports ;-)) People are eating dirt to survive in Haiti.

Woo - sorry, stepping off the soapbox and backing away ;-))

Go Team MOJO!!!!
