I just hope it gets a smidge cooler.
central NC is under an extreme heat advisory this week, with the heat index going as high as 110 degrees. I hate hot weather. -_-

No kidding! Camping will be miserable Saturday night if it's still this hot!!! Maybe we could plant some boxes in the lake? Maybe the pool?

Could be worse-- you could be in the heat at the Stone Mtn gathering in GA this weekend and hiking on that huge rock!

I'd say that the NC gathering is no longer a "mini" gathering. :)

I think we will go to DC and Leesburg instead! Goodness knows it will be so much cooler there! Mom called today to tell me how glad she was to be in the coolness of the northern states. It was only 98 today in New Hampshire.

I think you are right about the "mini-gathering". It's getting pretty big. Good thing there is a lot of room at Pullen Park.

ugh...the thought of that makes me sick. I don't envy those folks at all.

Excited and waiting,

Actually if you letterboxed in the am and went for a nap and a shower after the lunch, LBSE was fun. ;-) It was a jovial, but sweaty group. We are hoping to make it to Raleigh "mini-gathering". What time does Pullen Park actually open?

I looked up some letterboxes in Raleigh. NCSU students arrive for the fall semester the weekend of the gathering, so maybe we should all stay away from there.

I think that the park is open pretty much all day. The carousel, train, etc. are open from 1-7 on Sundays (I assume the ticket window hours are pretty much the same). I hope you can make it to the gathering. I think it is going to be a lot of fun.

As far as the boxes at NCSU and returning students, we just all need to bring a trunk with us so we look like lost parents trying to get our kids moved in. An 18 year old might be useful as well, but I wouldn't rent one just for the occasion. My son could pass if anyone wants to borrow him. I charge next to nothing!

Well, I have a 20 yr old of my own, but I'm not interested in spending hours in the car with him to get there. He wouldn't be amenable to doing that anyway (LORL) We'll just skip the letterboxes at State for the weekend, I remember the traffic when I started college--and the parking. Looking forward to the day at the Park.

I remember the traffic when I started too, and that was at State! And I'm sure it's only gotten worse. Hopefully they will all stay in the dorm areas and away from Pullen Park. Glad you are going to be able to make it.
