Hey Pilgrim,

(That's my best John Wayne imitation). If you check out the "Marketplace" right next to your "My Page" listing on AQ you will find some Mastercarve and some pink stuff. As far as I know the only source for PZKut is Stampeaz, and they can be found at www.stampeaz.com. Some Micheals around the SoCal area have carving material, but beware. I have found that much of their stuff has been on the shelves a long, long time and not worth a hoot. Finding it in their store is an adventure itself as the employees have no clue. Carving material is not usually found in the stamp dept.(DUH!), but somewhere else, like the linoleum carving area. You might put a post up on the SoCal list and maybe someone might have a source they can give you.
What material is best? I think it is totally personal preference. Ryan and Amanda would probably say it is the pink stuff, I think Jay Drew uses Master Carve, Der Mad Stamper is an eraser kinda guy, and Cadenza, and I use PZKut. There is no real answer, but you should try them all and figure out what works best for you. Once in a while I like to go "retro" and carve erasers too.

Pilgrim -

I agree with what Don says "try them and see what you like best". I primarily use PZ Kut because it is relatively inexpensive and comes in good size sheets. Even the cheaper "B grade" is good for stamps and I have been using a bunch of it lately. I have also used the pink stuff and think it works pretty good too, but is more expensive and comes in smaller pieces. I actually put PZ Kut in the refrigerator to stiffen it up for carving and the ink stuff in the freezer. The pink stuff warms up from the freezer faster and ends up limiting my carving time more than the PZ Kut.

It is all a matter of preference. I have heard from some that swear by certain types.

I get my stamp supplies at Sterling Art Supply in Irvine. I have found Master Carve and the pink stuff there.
