Ideas for New Carvers
Board: Stamp Carving and Mounting

I just wanted to pass an this idea to new carvers who are nervous about their carving skills...try doing a silhouette. I have done this with a couple of the stamps for an Adirondack series I am working on ..just to mix it up a little. I am very pleased with the results and they were so easy! Concentrating on just an outline for the "stampable" part and carving away all the surrounding area gives you a lot of practice with your tools too.

You can carve simple or complicated designs this way. Give it a try.

I have a PLB ring listed that is actually called "Silhouettes". It has not launched yet and it will now be awhile since it launches because of losing my income...but the concept is there along with the plans...it is even listed here at AQ (along with the Da Vinci ring which will also have to wait at least awhile).

Silhouettes are awesome cause you can do a multi-layered silhouette stamp with each layer (a different object) that is a silhouette done in different shades or colors.
FUN!!

I've carved stamps using that Idea and I've also mixed it up a bit and carved part as a reverse silhouette to get some depth, but that's another chapter.
